On the return trip home, the same thing happened as I throttled down to enter the 5 mile an hour zone, the engine stalled. I waited a few seconds, pumped the primer bulb and had my friend pump the bulb as I throttled up and we made it back to the dock. As I slowed to dock the boat it sputtered a little but maintained idle. here
I then pumped the primer bulb and restarted, she fired right up and idled. When I began to throttle up, she stalled again. This repeated once or twice more. I then had my friend pump the primer bulb as I throttled up and the engine did not stall. more
Hey guys, questions for you outboard wizards regarding low pressure fuel pumps
Here's the situation: ran down to the rockpile yesterday (1 YT in boat, 1 released ), boat ran great on the way down. When I began to come off the throttle, the engine started to sputter and die at 3000 RPM. As I continued to back off on the throttle, the engine stalled. I waited 30 seconds and attempted to restart, but it would not maintain idle. I attempted to restart several times but it would not idle.
After consulting the Seloc repair manual and some Internet research, I think it may be the low pressure fuel pump. This would be an easy fix, I can change out the diaphragm for about $60. here
