So if I am understanding correctly, to go to a four blade I would buy a 13.25" x 20?? I haven't seen one that size on the market in my searches. From what I am reading, the four blade provides better cornering (less cavitation) and holeshot which is just what I want. Loosing a couple mph isn't going to upset me too much. Losing 5mph or more would, however. [links]

"Rule of thumb when going from 3 to 4 is to drop an inch on both diameter and pitch. Typically you'll lift the bow better and have a better hole shot but the top end won't suffer more than 1 or 2 mph. That's the way mine worked out. "

I have a 1997 Four Winns Horizon RX (basically a Horizon 180) with the 4.3 Volvo/Penta. The stock prop on the boat is a 14.25 x 21, 3 blade aluminum. I damaged it a bit the other day and want to take the opportunity to buy a better prop and keep this one as an emergency backup.

Reads like something is burning in there, thus puffs of black smoke> I wonder if you are dumping too much gas in there. If carburated which it seems it is check choke plate and adjustment.
I think your brother in law should be off the hook for any damage claims of leaving a wire off. I believe he falls under good In law samaritan laws in most states so don't go there. Used boats have flaws usually as do new ones as do all boats welcome to the world of power boating. If you choose to continue remember what happened on your first outing is just a tease. here

Could this have anything to do with the cylinder being left disconnected? How bad does this sound?

When we put it on the water it ran very sluggish - very slow to come to speed and plane. No giddyup. Once at higher speed though - it seemed OK. I thought we just had too much weight in the boat (8 people). Then when we slowed to stroll the lake it stalled. After 10 minutes of trying it started again with a big puff of black smoke. We made it home - but it stalled all the way back in. here

I'm a boating novice (2 seasons) with a used 1992 Four Winns 190 Horizon. We brought it out for the summer last weekend and had trouble starting it. My brother-in-law looked at it. He checked the plugs to ensure spark and they were fine. Then he loosened the connection in the fuel line to make sure gas was coming from the pump and it was. He hooked it back up and suddenly the boat started. So - he assumed it was a vapor lock and that was all. [links]

I’m selling a 19.5’ Four Winns 190 Horizon boat with trailer. It has a 4.3L OMC engine (about 150hp). The interior is in great condition and it runs well. It is rated to seat 8, but if there are little ones, 10 easily fit.

I’m selling it because it’s too big for my lift and my vehicle. I’m looking to get something a little smaller.
