Have what I belive to be a stock prop 15 pitch- my question is how tight should the prop nut be, I have not been able to find it in the book. There is the big taper washer at the gear end & what looks like a plastic or fiber washer at the nut end. The nut is a castle nut & held in place be a cotter pin. It was finger loose when I got it & I don't know if I should tighten it up more or not.

My Merc 90 says 55 ft lbs. If loose it's hard on your gear train every time you shift and can wear out your prop or splines. would take a long time but would get progressively worse. more

We work with the top suppliers in the industry. Nevertheless, there is still a difference in the level of quality between these suppliers (whether the replacement parts are new or aftermarket, etc.), core exchange policies, warranty, and price, so it is important to realize that the product with the lowest price isn't necessarily the best deal. I have cut 2.4 as tight as 28CC and folks are happy on pump gas. Our suggestion on 91 octane on the 2.5 is no tighter than 34CC with thin head gaskets. (16)

Mercury part number for the plastic block off plate is 43453 and the O-ring for that kit is 32509. Jay Smith Racing Engines also has a billet kit for doing this.
