Alumacraft traces its origins back to 1893 when Eugene Tetzlaff moved from Germany to Minneapolis and opened a blacksmith shop. The goal was to make iron for construction projects in the area, but he later switched to manufacturing airplane parts and aluminum pontoons for World War II. After the war ended, the company started focusing on aluminum fishing boats. In 1946, the company was officially named Alumacraft.
