Bocelli made the remarks at a conference in Italy's Senate attended by opposition politicians including Matteo Salvini, leader of the far-right League party.
He said he thought the outbreak had been overblown and he didn't know anyone in intensive care. "So what was all this sense of gravity for?" he asked. here
"It's unthinkable that schools were closed so quickly, and with the same speed nightclubs were reopened, where young people go not to learn, but to disperse their brains." [links]

Every July since 2006, Bocelli has performed at for one night at the open air venue — called Teatro del Silenzio — accompanied by fellow musicians such as Placido Domingo, Sarah Brightman, Kenny G and Chris Botti. Fans come from around the world for the performance. The theater remains silent the rest of the year. The schools of St. Raphael, Manitane e St. Augustin are located in communities that are several hours of travel from the capital of PAP. Through the EDU project, the Andrea Bocelli foundation has achieved the construction of 3 Guest Houses to host staff, volunteers and supporters of the ABF and Fondation St. Luc team during missions and stays on location. The facility in St Raphael houses on a stable basis also some school teachers in order to support their attendance in view of its geographical position, thus decreasing turnover due to logistics difficulties.
