I installed the new CDI and the problem I was having with not getting fire to the #2 cylinder after the engine was warm appears to be solved. I now have anther probem, the engine stalls when I put it in gear when at idle speed. I turned up the idle from 750 to 900 and it helped some but the engine will still stall. I have bought yet another set of plugs and I am going to fill up with a tank of fresh gas and see it that helps. I did not have this problem with the old CDI. The new CDI is on revision 7 and my original CDI was revision 1. here

The shop I deal with suggested that I try to adjust the carbs before bringing it in after I described the symptoms of the engine with the new CDI. Basically they said to turn the air mxture screws out 1-1/4 tuns on all three carbs (they were at 1-3/4 turns with old CDI) and turn the idle up to around 900 rpms (was 750). It runs much better now and the plugs are burning light brown instead of black and oily looking. Not perfect but much better.

Check to see what the timing is doing and that it is in spec like the manual states.
Could be you have carb problems or compression is low
You may have to do a link and sync on it as you have started adjusting things and that is not something that needs to be done unless something is not working as it should here

The TT600 is often confused with the XT600, so we’d thought we’d take this opportunity to clear the air on a confusion we’ve seen pop up on various forums.

The CDI unit has a resin, which often heats up and expands. Should this happen, the resin will pull on components, breaking the solder tabs. It can also pull on the legs of the components, causing their pads and leads to touching. If this goes on for long, the CDI unit will eventually fail.

This same part number is available today. The configuration should be one and the same. That is, no added wires. A change from a -00-00 to a -01-00 to a 02-00, etc. normally will not involve a configuration change. A -02-00 produced by Yamaha in 1989 should look just like a -02-00 produced today.

My old CDI unit does not have the two orange and orange/green wires(***),
which are for head temperature sensor. I would like to know how to connect
them or where can i get the info i need.

If you are on a personal connection, like at home, you can run an anti-virus scan on your device to make sure it is not infected with malware. more
