The crew members of Below Deck Mediterranean work hard for their money, but when you think about all the cash they're actually making each season, it might be worth it. It's unclear exactly how much Below Deck Med cast members make, given that tips from charter guests and contracts with Bravo vary, but it's definitely a decent salary.

According to Starcasm, the salary is tax-free, which is another bonus. Plus, they're sailing around the world as a job, which probably makes having to sleep in those teeny-tiny cabins not so bad. more

Kate Chastain is the Chief Stew on the original Below Deck, but she talked to Entertainment Tonight in October 2019 about money, and it's likely very similar to what the crew makes over in the Mediterranean. She said, "On a yacht of that size, [a good tip] would be $5,000 a person, for seven days of work. Five grand a crew member, usually. Our charters are a little bit shorter, just so we can make the show, [but] everything else is exactly the same. So, it's prorated. We usually get around $2,500, $2,000. Anything less than $1,000 would be depressing, which sounds crazy, doesn't it?"

At the end of each charter we see them sit down in the mess to find out how much the group has tipped, and while us Brits would probably be pretty chuffed with $1,000 each for three days work - they're often disappointed. more

They entertain, cook, serve and clean for whoever is on board, as well as carrying out whatever other weird and wonderful tasks their sometimes demanding passengers request.

The cast has bare necessities to survive in this wild. Hunters take viewers on an exciting journey through the series, which is extremely difficult and dangerous while hunting wild animals for survival.

Mainly when they often expose themselves to dangerous situations just for the sake of it, i.e., to build suspense and excitement for television.

6. No really, it’s real: “All reality shows are different. There is a spectrum from the very fake to the very real. I think though, that reality TV tends to be more real than you think. The skeptical audience is giving us too much credit for being masterminds.” more

9. Shockingly, it’s really rare for the guests to feel they got a “bad edit” and complain. “It’s actually rare – but not completely unheard of. The ones who complain in public are just trying to defend their bad behavior and blame us. But again, it has only happened twice in like 50 charters.” here

Mark Cronin, the TV producer who created Below Deck stopped by Reddit to do an AMA on the beloved boat series. He answered a lot of the show’s mysteries that have always bothered us non-yachties:
