It's not that I want to lose the independent ability. it's just that 95% of the time the tabs will be on the same setting left & right. I just haven't encountered conditions where a left/right difference is often needed. It's a PIA to press and hold both switches one after the other, when the boat is moving around. Also, sometimes you have to 'backtrack' one notch with one switch or the other to get the same position on both, as I find the switches are pretty sensitive.
Yes. my weight distribution is pretty consistent. more

Change Your Propeller If you are running an aluminum prop, changing to even a basic stainless steel prop will usually improve top speed. If your WOT RPM is too high or too low, you’ll want to try a prop with more or less pitch. [links]

The trim/tilt switch is a 2-way switch and will show continuity only when it is toggled in each direction between two of the wires. Up toggle connects the RED wire to the PURPLE wire and then to the BLUE wire through the trim limit switch. Down toggle connects the RED wire to the GREEN wire.

Remember to use the power trim to adjust the prop path parallel to the water flow. Use trim tabs to trim the hull of the boat — both up and down and from side to side. When you use the two of them together, each controlling their part of the trimming process, you maximize your boat’s performance.

If the tilt and trim motor works fine but the engine won’t raise or lower, slips down when in the raised position or won’t stay trimmed, chances are that the problem is with the hydraulic pump or valve body assembly. If the level is adequate, the problem is most likely with the hydraulic pump. more

Numbers Stamped on the Propeller. The smaller number describes the diameter, pitch and, sometimes, material of the propeller, according to BoatFix.com. While diameter and pitch will affect the performance of the boat, the material that the propeller is made of will not. [links]

So I ran into a slight issue with the placement of the tabs. I have an aluminum trailer that has longer bucks then the stock trailer which will cause the mounting location of the tabs to be closer to the pump, not in the ideal spot (from what I have read). Will mounting closer to the pump cause any problems? or should I consider pulling the boat back on the trailer to install where the buck is? Any recommendations are welcomed. Thanks more

2. Is the unit receiving a solid 12 volts? Low voltage will some times cause the solenoids to not open preventing the tabs from moving even though the pump motor is running.

If the trim tabs function correctly for each wire grouping then the switch is at fault. Also note that any loose or missing screws on the back of the switch (whether a wire is connected there or not) can cause the pump to malfunction.

1.If one side is not operating reverse hydraulic lines on the front of the Hydraulic Power Unit to determine if the malfunction is in HPU or actuator / hydraulic lines. If after reversing the lines symptom shifts to the other side the malfunction may exist in HPU. If the symptom remains on the same side, malfunction may exist with the actuator / hydraulic lines
