During the course of helping everyone with their fish finder mounting needs, we discovered that there's a ton of different types of fishing water craft ( such as fishing kayaks, zodiaks ) beyond the conventional. If you have one of these beauties - it's quite likely we have a fishfinder mount that will work for you.

Our Magnetic transducer mount is the proverbial icing on the cake. It allows you to own many kayaks and just easily switch your sonar over in seconds - literally! We are so confident in our solution for mounting a fish finder on a kayak, we'll go as far as saying we believe our magnetic transducer mount is the best way to mount a transducer on your kayak bar-none! It gets your transducer in the water unlike goop on solutions, and yet it's not sticking out of the bottom of a scupper so it's out of harms way. You can actually tilt it out of the water when you wish to focus on travel and reduce drag. Oh yeah, and don't bother drilling into your kayak. You don't need that with our magnetic transducer mount solultion. By the way, our complete 5 amp hour kayak mounting kit comes with everything you need to mount and power your fish finder on your kayak. just sayin' :) more

As you can imagine, they’re pretty lightweight. The smallest ones fit in your pocket and pair up with your phone. But even the biggest models are compact enough to fit inside a small backpack. more

Another popular choice is the Reel Sonar Wireless scanner. It’s a bit different from the ones we’ve reviewed so far, as it uses your phone to show you where the fish are.

Finally, draw up a budget for your portable fish finder and stick to it. You’ll find units for anywhere between $50 and $350. On the cheaper end of things, you’ll see minimalistic units with no GPS and no connectivity. On the pricier end of the scale, the units will have a lot of fancier settings. Yet, at the end of the day, they all find fish.

The more, the merrier. So, if you want to maximize performance, select a device that has more than just primary functions. Features like fish and depth alarms, GPS chart plotters, contour mapping, wireless connectivity etc. go a long way in making your expedition a fruitful one.

Fish for hours to hoard as many preys as you can because the powerful battery together with the battery saving mode permits a 4-5 hours window of continuous working.

The success and failure of the fish hunting hinge heavily on the appropriate transducer as this is the gear which fires sonar rays in the water. Power and frequency of the transducer determine its use.

You can bet your money that within a boundary of 240ft, its sonar will not miss a single fish that passes by. On top of that, the fish alarm further makes it ironclad that you don’t miss a target.

However, nothing lasts forever therefore, your excitement dampens upon seeing the small size of the screen, not to mention the only size available. I would say it’s still a blessing in disguise. One, you can carry it comfortably on kayaks and small vessels. Second and most important, the screen is Solarmax, which is a code term for spectacular view of the terrain regardless of the scintillating sunlight. [links]

for the longitudinal support what i did was drilled a bigger holes on one side of the square bar first every 8" or so. than you can position the bar where you want it under the seats. Than you can dill a smaller hole through the bigger hole where the closed fastener can be placed from the out side. seems to work well. more

nice work dude! did you do the TIG welding yourself? i may have to steal your longitudinal support bar idea. i'd like more rigidity but agree with you on fears regarding punching 20+ holes in bottom of hull.
