As if that wasn’t enough, you can also find some decent Bass fishing in the Chicago River. What more could you want? [links]

We love Portland. We covered it last year and we also named it one of the West Coast’s most family-friendly fishing spots. Here’s why. Avid anglers can battle mighty Sturgeon on the Columbia River while families reel in Walleye on the Willamette. And of course, everybody from first-timers to fly fishing fanatics will love Portland’s Salmon and Steelhead bite. more

Some people might argue about whether San Juan is a “US City.” All we know is that the fishing is incredible and you don’t need a passport to get here. Huge Tarpon and Snook hunt in San Juan Bay, right in the middle of town. You start to see Sailfish and Marlin just a couple of miles offshore. This isn’t just one of the country’s best fishing cities. It’s one of the best in the world.

It’s impossible to talk about fishing cities without tipping your hat to Boston. The Northeast’s finest fish all show up here. Striped Bass and Fluke are the bread and butter of inshore trips. Farther out, giant Bluefin Tuna and toothy terrors like Blue and Mako Sharks make the summer seas boil. You can also catch top food fare like Pollock and Haddock. It’s tough to know where to start. here

Parker Canyon Lake may be a lesser-known area, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great fishing spot. This 130-acre lake is located about five miles north of the Mexican border in Southeastern Arizona. It’s an isolated spot, but well worth the drive. It’s home to warm and cold water fish species and is stocked with rainbow trout, catfish, bass, and sunfish. It’s also been the site of three state fishing records. Fishing in Parker Canyon Lake is made easier by the on-site amenities. They have a fishing pier and country store with fishing essentials and even boat rentals. There are also some stellar shoreline areas where you can reel in catfish. Anglers 14 and older are required to have a valid fishing license and trout stamp. more

On the opposite side of the state lies Lee’s Ferry. This 120-acre spot is a truly unique area to go fishing. It’s the only place within hundreds of miles where you can drive up to the Colorado River. Located near Page and the Utah-Arizona border, this spot is home to some of the best upstream trout fishing in the state. It’s a hot spot for fly fishers and is managed as a trophy trout fishing hole. You’ll typically find rainbow trout between one to two feet in size. It’s also a diverse spot that has areas ranging from very shallow to very deep. Lee’s Ferry is also renowned for its surrounding beauty. One of the locations in the United States worth considering is the Lake Austin. Known to permit fishing enthusiasts to reel in a 20-pound largemouth, this fishing spot should be right up your alley, especially if you’re a fan of bass. It is an area that is significantly cooler than other regions found within the state of Texas, and this must be considered when making the trip. Make sure you pack a pair of reliable fishing shoes. During the day, fishing might not be any fun due to the lake being filled with recreational boaters, but at night, you can have your fair share of this beautiful area.

The best times to hit the Pacific Northwest for fishing is during the summer and spring seasons. You can gain unlimited access to various types of fish in this river, from sturgeon to steelhead and even smallmouth bass. If you’re not an experienced boater, you might find it hard navigating the waters of this angling spot, as it may prove to be tricky. In such a scenario, it is advised that you opt for fishing from the shore, which is also a great option either way. Make sure you bring your fishing watch so you can always consult the GPS and understand your environment.
