Blue Corner is a dive for the ages. It consists of a reef-covered wall which runs along the side of Ngemelis Island in Palau. While the dive is great at any time due to the massive schools of fish, this dive site shows its best face when the currents are strong. At that time, divers use reef hooks to attach to the wall and watch a number of pelagic species swim past. Common sights include tuna, sharks and eagle rays. Many Blue Corner alums claim that they have never seen so many sharks on a single dive.
Diving between continental plates may sound risky, but scuba divers flock to Silfra Fissure year-round for the pleasure. Granted, these plates are moving so slowly, you will never know it. With 300-foot (100-meter) visibility, exploring the space between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates is a dream. Glide along the aquatic grasses full of blues and greens before snapping a picture between the rock faces of the plates. [links]
Cocos Island, which lies far from the Costa Rican Pacific coast, is only accessible by liveaboard, but is consistently ranked as the top destination in the world for hammerhead diving with this world-class dive site. The seamount known as Bajo Alcyone rises to 82 feet (25 meters) below the surface and is regularly home to large shoals of hammerhead sharks. The diving can difficult, but the plan is simple. Divers descend to the top of the sea mount, wedge themselves between the rocks and watch the action above.
Certainly one of the most unique night dives, the Manta Night Dive is a ballet for manta rays. Just off the coast of Kona is an artificially illuminated area, divers descend to the sandy observation areas. As the light attracts plankton, mantas arrive to take advantage of the feast. All the divers need to do is to relax and enjoy the show while the graceful manta rays turn and spin above.
The places to dive are fairly evenly balanced between Northern and Southern hemispheres, the South winning by 6 entries to 4. It is also a 6:4 ratio in Reefs versus Wrecks.

Extending 300 m from shore, the T-shaped structure is 300 m wide, including two outlying "dolphins" (platforms for larger ships to tie up to). Although a very defined and somewhat compact site, you could spend 5 days diving there and not be bored, particularly at night. On any dive there are lots of nudibranchs and flatworms, eels, woebegone and white tipped sharks, octopuses, lion and scorpion fish, stargazers, and the usual smaller finned friends. Sometimes you'll come across absolutely huge rays dozing in the sand.

The underwater world is an oasis for adrenaline junkies. Few things are more exciting than strapping on your oxygen tank, plunging off the side of a dive boat, and sinking into the ocean’s deep blue depths. It’s a total rush to swim inside the eye of a school of menacing barracudas, to see a manta ray emerge from a reef, or to float by a turtle that is even bigger than you. The best scuba-diving destinations serve up those big-ocean thrills alongside the sense that you’re swimming through the most diverse aquarium in the world.
From Bora Bora in the French Polynesia, where you’re almost guaranteed to be swimming with sharks, to Egypt’s Red Sea, where gorgeous coral formations festoon the seafloor, there are tons of outstanding dives for any swimmer. more

Curious where I saw whale sharks while snorkeling? Just outisde the house reef of my favorite resort in Maldives: Lux South Ari Atoll.
Although I would probably freeze to dead in the cold waters of Galapagos I cant wait to go diving there. When diving in Bermuda (22 degrees) I was still shivering while wearing all the wetsuits available on the boat. Regardless of the temperatures I would do anything to swim with big schools of manta rays, hammerheads, seals and even iguanas. Galapagos has such a diverse and unique array of marine life because of its remote location. Plus its strong currents make it one of the worlds most challenging places to go diving. more
Probably one of the most spectacular underwater events to witness is the Sardine Run in South Africa. Temperatures will even be colder than diving in Galapagos, but what you will see underwater is unrivalled. Predators from all sizes come to feed on the massive schools of sardines that can be seen from space! Fishes as tiny as your finger that form a school so big that they can be seen from space? That sounds crazy already right? Then add all the predators like sharks, whales, dolphins and even diving birds to this frenzy and you surely will understand why this event is one of the best diving locations in the world. The sardine run is every year between May and July off the coast of South Africa. more
Although Koh Tao is obviously not the best scuba diving location in the world I still want to name it in this list. This little island in Thailand is where I did most of my dives and also were I messed up my ear. The photo below is from the same dive I ruptured my ear drum, yes in the pool! [links]
