For the world's super-rich, luxury cars and private jets are some of the ultimate status symbols attainable. During the summer months, however, nothing screams affluence quite like a vacation on a superyacht and docking in some of the world's most exclusive marinas. Without doubt, the Mediterranean is the top destination worldwide for billionaire yacht owners. Every summer, sun-soaked harbors in Croatia, Italy, France, Spain and other Mediterranean countries are jam-packed with yachts to the point that finding a place to dock can prove a nightmare. This is even true in the most expensive marinas where net worth matters little during the summer season when competition for berths is highest.

So where exactly are the most exclusive marinas for superyacht owners? A list compiled by Motoyachting.com and published by website Drivemag Boats confirms that the Mediterranean is the place to be for superyacht owners. The small island of Capri off the coast of Naples in Italy has earned itself a reputation as a playground for the world's super-rich. Despite that, its marina only has ten berths for yachts and prices are exorbitant as a result at $3,369 a day. The Marina Di Porto Cervo in Sardinia is also a well-known millionaire magnet and its daily mooring price is $2,904. The small and popular Marina Di Portofino near Genoa rounds off the top-3 and it costs yacht owners $2,730 a day. here

Interestingly, some of the world's best-known mooring spots like Monaco and Saint-Tropez are further down the list, with daily prices less than half of Capri's. Both destinations are still extremely expensive, however, with prices well in excess of $1,000 a day. There are some non-Mediterranean marinas on the list with Miami Beach Marina costing approximately $1,000 daily. Port De Gustavia in Saint Barthélemy in the Caribbean costs $581 per day while superyacht owners have to fork over $489 each day to dock in Abu Dhabi. Purchasing an expensive superyacht is one thing but paying all of its operating costs and handing over money to dock in exclusive marinas is certainly quite another. [links]
