A solid tone is overtemp. A beeping tone is the oil alert module.
I'd be glad to offer an expert opinion.
When I can know what I'm actually talking about, ie motor type. more
Research has shown that almost 10 percent of all boat fires have been caused by engines that have overheated. here
The beeping alarm could be caused by a worn-out or damaged water pump impeller. Inboard and sterndrive engines usually have a raw water pump that is designed to cool the system and prevent overheating. If the impeller is broken it won’t be able to do its job properly. [links]
Marine mechanics recommend that you check and inspect the water pump impeller every 100 to 200 hours, and change the impeller every 1 to 2 years as preventative maintenance. It’s also a good idea to carry a spare impeller with you just in case becasue when the impeller breaks, it’s normally at the most inconvenient time. [links]
Anytime that your boat starts to beep, you need to listen. A beeping sound is an indication that there is something wrong and, this is your boats way of trying to warn you.
If your boat starts to beep, the first thing you should do is NOT ignore it. There is a reason why the boat is beeping, and you should figure out what the problem is. You can get lucky, and it could just turn out to be a faulty wire or connection, but it could also be something much more severe than that, like an overheating engine. more
Peter under the maintenance header is a trouble shooting guide for refrigeration. Sounds like voltage is the problem;
3.) Watch the voltage AT THE INPUT OF THE UNIT AS IT’S STARTING AND STOPPING. You will see a
significant drop in voltage. The low voltage cut off is 10.4VDC, but you will probably never see it
get this low on your meter because of buffers etc installed in the meter. If you see a drop of
over .5VDC you have a problem. You will need to track down the boats wiring, find your loose
connection/corrosion that’s causing the high resistance. You may even have a weak cell in the
battery.
Marc,
This is great! Thanks. I've also posted the guide in the Manuals section of the website. more

Don't be so fast to say low voltage error is not the electronic module. After several years of intermittent problems and low voltage error readings, I finally replaced my electronic module. It did fix the problem and according to posts on other forums, I am not alone. It is far more common than you explain. [links]
You have to remove the cowl and fill the reserve tank in order to get the beeping to stop!
i have the same issue - but you never posted your solution. Please share more
If your outboard is set up like this, and you ran low in the remote tank, the outboard would then begin pulling from the reserve tank. This tank does not automatically refill when you top off the remote tank.
Of course your engine could be different in which case all of this typing was for nothing! :-) more

Oil pressure was normal at 40 and all wires were checked and good. more
First off I woudl like to say hi to everyone, im new here. Any way, Last week I was out on the lake and I killed the battery. So i tried to jump the battery with a battery pack but had to luck so I was towed in. The next day I threw the battery on a charger and charged it up. Hooked everything back up and went out on the lake yesterday. As i turn the key on there is a beep. beep. beep. The beep stays even when the motor is started and running. Checked the oil, oil is good, checked the lower unit, also good. Checked fuses under my dash also good. Check my gauges as we were driving and everything was normal. Not running hot. I was a little low on trim fluid but I topped it off and it is still beeping. Any and all idea will be greatly appreciated. Thank You!
Re: Volvo Penta BEEP BEEP BEEP Noise
Mine also beeps when the oil pressure is low, but that was already covered.
