The Ft. Lauderdale marina opened in the late 1950s as a fuel dock for the Phillips 66 Petroleum Company. Phillips later developed a yacht club and in 1957 opened the Pier Sixty- Six Hotel, whose tower became an iconic piece of the Ft. Lauderdale skyline. In December 2016, Tavistock Development Company acquired Pier Sixty-Six Hotel & Marina to invest in the revitalization of the destination and to return the hotel as one of Ft. Lauderdale’s social harbors. Recently, Pier Sixty-Six Marina was the 55th Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show.
