And in our Final Backfire segment, the iconic 1968 Ford Mustang GT that starred in late actor Steve McQueen’s film "Bullitt," then disappeared for years, sold for a hammer price of $3.4 million Friday at Mecum’s Kissemmee auction.

The car, used in most of the epic chase scenes in McQueen’s cop film, was sold to Robert Kiernan, a New Jersey insurance worker, and kept secret for 44 years. Then the owner’s son, Sean, revealed it in 2018, the green Mustang shown at that year’s Amelia Island Concours d’Elegance, as featured in the Times-Union. The car is a cinematic icon, still complete with a camera mount and a hole where a smoke generator was installed.
