One major aspect of boat ownership is deciding where to store your boat when it’s not being used. Boat storage options typically fall into two categories: dry boat storage (out of the water) and marina boat storage (in the water). Each storage option requires unique steps for prepping exteriors, engines and electrical, and batteries. more

Home garages are a convenient and affordable winter boat storage option that allows you to keep your boat on your property. Attached garages absorb heat from your house, preventing sub-zero temperatures from damaging your boat while in storage. Without storage fees or the hassle of driving to a facility check on your boat, this is an excellent way to keep your boat safe all winter long!

I guess it depends on who you ask. To me, the house where I can do as I see fit with MY property has a higher "value". But I guess we're getting off topic. here

I used to live in a town house in the HOA suburbs, because there was no choice. Everything in my price range there had an HOA. I hated it. Most people don't buy an HOA place because they prefer it. They usually don't have much choice, or don't realize what they're in for with HOA officials with clipboards and measuring tapes measuring fence heights or flower boxes or some such stupidities.

HOA? What's that? Home owners association I assume.

Yes. You need a "Planning Clearance Approval" from the Planning Division prior to commencement of work. The planning division may approve a modification to widen your existing driveway in cases where the driveway is too narrow. Planning Divsion staff will make the final determination as to how much a driveway can be widened. Planning staff is also verifying you maintain 50% of landscaped area within your front yard setback area, as required per the Covina Municipal Code. Paving the front yard setback area (as measured from the front property line 25 feet inward) of a residence to accommodate additional parking IS NOT PERMITTED. Refer to "Supporting Documents" below for a "Sample Plot Plan" for Driveway Expansion/Front Yard Landscape Requirements.

Yes, planning approval is required for the placement of a storage shed within the side or rear yard. The storage shed must be 5 feet away from the side property line and 25 feet away from the rear property line, unless you can satisfy the rear yard "exceptions" outlined under CMC 17.26.140 (C)(1) and (C)(2) (see link below). A plot plan is required showing property lines, existing building footprints, proposed location of shed with elevation views, and dimensions showing the size of the shed and the required setback clearances. A filing fee of $105.00 is required. A sample plot plan is available under "Supporting Documents" below. here
