Thereof, can I run all rubber fuel lines? [links]

You can not use regular rubber line with a brake system. First, even with a barbed or rolled end, the clamps will not stand up to the 100+ psi. Second, brake fluid is not kind to rubber hoses. more

One may also ask, can vinyl tubing be used for fuel line? No - unless specially made for this purpose do not use plain ordinary vinyl tubing for gasoline and other hydrocarbons.

Yes, it can be used. No, it's not the best way to run fuel to the carb. That being said, I ran rubber 3/8" fuel injection grade line from the hard line on the frame to the fuel pump, then around the front of the engine compartment to the drivers side, & then to the carb inlet of my 6cyl.

Yes it HAS to be designed for hydraulic fluid. Trans fluid & regular rubber fuel line aren't compatible, as it will swell it & leak. If I have to use any hose on the transmission line, I usually flare the steel line before I slip on the rubber hose, it helps to keep the hose from blowing off.

Furthermore, can you use copper tubing for transmission cooling lines? Are there any issues using the copper nickel tubing for transmission cooler lines? It's much easier to work with than steel lines, and not all that expensive either. And since they are used for brake lines, they should hold up to the transmission line pressures rather easily (or so I would think.)

Secondly, can fuel hose be used for transmission cooling lines?

Assuming you meant pump to carb, I use 3/8" brake lines from NAPA, bend to fit, double flare the end after you cut to length and you have a proper fuel line. here

You can also convert to rubber line. I used to believe that the Coast Guard regs called for metal line, but that isn't true. You can go with the appropriate barbed fittings and type A1 marine fuel hose if you prefer. [links]

I accidentally broke the fuel line when I was taking my carb off last night (whoops) so I will need to replace the fuel line running from the water separator to the carb. Can I use a flexible braided steel fuel line for this connection, or do I have to replace with the OEM mercruiser line? The engine is a 1980 Mercruiser 228 (Chevy 305) with a Rochester Quadrajet carb.
