One may also ask, can you use WD 40 to start a diesel engine? Actually, WD-40 is safer to use as a "starting" fluid than Ether in a Diesel engine

In this way, can you use WD 40 to clean a carburetor?

Aerosolized and applicable to nearly any carburetor, WD-40's fast-acting carb cleaner uses a solvent formula to break away stubborn carbon contaminants, leaving you with a clean carburetor. WD-40's blend of cleaners can be used on any unpainted metal parts.

Premixed gas from lawn equipment, chainsaw, ice auger, any kind of premixed gas will work great. Make sure it's premix or else it'll dry out the cylinder walls if it doesn't start, which isn't good. And for starting fluid, make sure it has upper cylinder lubricant in it for the same reason to use premix gas. [links]

In simple terms YES it can be used as starting fluid or used on the throttle body. Although there is a specific engine starting spray if the situation arises where you may be desperate a Carby Cleaner can be used. Carb Cleaner is an extremely strong cleaning agent designed to clean gunk from carbys and throttle body's.

Spray WD-40 directly onto the wad of gum and let it soak for 30 seconds or so. Allowing the WD-40 to saturate the gum will make less work for you.

Take your can and spray directly onto the affected area. While you can begin scrubbing it off right away, if you let it set for 30 or so seconds, it’ll come off in nearly one wipe. here

While WD-40 won’t magically untangle your jewelry for you, it turns a task that could take hours into one that takes 10 minutes. Here’s how to do it.

You might be curious what WD-40 actually is. We were, too! The name stands for water displacement 40. Forty being the number of tries it took to get the formula exactly right. We know that WD-40 is a special blend of lubricants that contains anti-corrosion agents and ingredients for penetration, water displacement, and soil removal. Most commonly, it’s used for loosening up corroded, rusted, or conjoined items. While a few sources say they know the components of the chemical formula, the company behind WD-40 actually won’t share the exact secret sauce of everything that’s in it and claims that anyone who says they know it, actually hasn’t cracked the code.

And if you want your grill to look brand new again, you can spray WD-40 on it, wait for a few moments, and scrub it using a wire brush. Of course, don’t forget to make sure your grill is not in use and had time to cool off. here

It’s recommended that you spray a light coat of WD-40 on the filter of your air conditioner before installing it, as it will actually make your filter much more effective. more

Wearing lipstick can be fun. You can switch colors every day according to your mood, and even get some compliments on your looks. But when it transfers onto your clothes, it’s not very fun to clean up.

WD-40 can make that job a lot easier though, as it will make the key slide out much easier than without it. Now you just need something small to grab the key, and it should come out just fine. [links]

Yes, this is another of WD-40’s many uses, and a helpful one at that. You can apply just a spritz of WD-40 to your shower cleaning routine and just watch those annoying water stains disappear as if they never existed at all. more

The Rocket Chemical Company (later re-named WD-40) never patented the formulation. That’s because doing so would require disclosing the ingredients in a public patent application. Like the formula of Coke, it’s their trade secret.

Well to answer the first part of the question, no one knows exactly what these chemicals are!

The ironic part is that WD-40 is not really a true lubricant.
