The thing about any small gas motor is they make a real racket when opened up full, so you won't want to have the 2 hp screaming at WOT for long. Dialed back to a reasonable hum you can expect a pace about like a steady jog.

However: That might be too much for a 14' canoe, in which case I would recommend a JohnnyRude 2HP from the same period. here
I've run a Tanaka 3HP on my 17' aluminum canoe for over 25 years, but since they're not made anymore, consider the Honda 2HP, 4 stroke, centrifugal clutch, air cooled, no water pump, no gears, excellent for shallow water, salt water, outstanding gas mileage, 27 lbs., darn nice motor for a canoe, and it don't take all that much power to push a canoe along at 5 to 7 MPH. Check it out and good luck! [links]

Will, I don't know the size of your fuel tank. If you factor that in, what would be your MPG with that setup, loaded and with only one person and gear? This could be really good info for folks.
It is easy to adjust the angle and length to your preference. It is a great outboard motor for saltwater and freshwater and can be used widely on a variety of small watercraft like a canoe, fishing boats, leisure, water entertainment, river cleaning, and aquaculture. more
Inboard motor consists of two main parts; the powerhead, which is similar to the engine of a car and the second part is the drive shaft, which is the metal shaft that is attached to the propeller. Both parts work in harmony to propel the canoe. here
If you would like one of the best quiet trolling motors for your canoe, then this Newport Vessels L-Series transom-mounted trolling motor is recommended for you. It is perfect for fishing all day long without any risk of overheating or scaring the fish away. more
On the other hand, an outboard motor is a type where the entire engine is bolted on the Exterior at the transom of the canoe or boat. here
Which is exactly what you want in a portable outboard. The BF5 is incredibly lightweight and compact. It’s easy to transport and ideal for small tenders, and jon boats.
The BF8 and BF9.9 offer more of what you want. More battery charging power. Easier to use features. Quieter performance. Better reliability. And with Honda’s exclusive True 5 warranty, the best warranty in the business.
And that’s especially true with Honda’s BF2.3, one of the world’s lightest four-stroke outboards. Pack it for anywhere and it’s ready to take you everywhere.
For smaller 12 to 16 foot boats, the BF15 and BF20 are as convenient as you can get. At just 104 pounds, they are among the lightest in their class. Yet they‘re all Honda: quiet, reliable, fuel efficient, and loaded with features.
