There are tons of things to see!We talk about highlights without taking away from the feeling of just being there. Sea birds, seals and other wildlife may be seen on this trip. However the themes are primarily the manifold man-made things, stunning natural vistas and the frequent opportunity to see ships and port operations in action. [links]

It is possible to encounter a rain shower and some seats are more susceptible to sea spray depending on wind conditions. We recommend keeping any sea spray off your cameras and phones. Of course we will not be responsible for any damage to your property or personal effects. We try to keep people as comfortable as possible during the trip and make changing recommendations depending on the weather, our course and speed. more

We tour the Thea Foss Waterway, SR 509 cable-stayed bridge, 11th. St. (Murray Morgan) Bridge, Grain terminal and Navy reserve ships. We see all ships, boats, tugs and barges in the area. Continuing into the Blair waterway (on the 2 hour only) we often observe cargo handling and shipping activity. Of course during the trip there are ample views of all mountains, the famous Stadium High School, Vashon and Maury Islands, plus views over toward Brown’s Point, Pt. Defiance and Gig Harbor. A: Our Museum of Glass location’s ramp is the longest and widest so it is the least steep and most accessible one that we use and is wheelchair accessible. A tour from this dock would be the least mobility restricted at any tide level. While our boats are not wheelchair accessible, we have been successful at safely loading and unloading many folks with mobility challenges who were thrilled to be able to make the trip and had a great time! If we are informed in advance, we should be able to safely lock up wheel chairs on the pier for the duration of the tour. more

Inspired by a local historical design from recreational fishing boats of the late 1800s, form meets function in this versatile little boat that can serve as a ship-to-shore tender, or a standalone daysailer in its own right.

In October of 1947 a disastrous fire burned nearly half the eastern side of Mount Desert Island. 67 palatial summer houses on Millionaires’ Row, five historic grand hotels and 170 permanent homes were destroyed. The town of Bar Harbor survived and exists today much as that which remained after the fire. more

Bar Harbor, Maine, a quintessential Maine coastal village perched on the eastern shore of Mt. Desert Island, is a must stop visit by crewed yacht charter on a yacht charter of New England when cruising through “Down East” Maine. Facing a large harbor and surrounded by Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor offers something for everyone. Stop in Bar Harbor on a crewed yacht charter, and be the first to see the sunrise in the United States on any given day, from the top of Mount Cadillac in Acadia National Park. Visit the museums and explore the many shops filled with typical Maine souvenirs. And, of course, enjoy a feast of Maine lobster choosing from a selection ranging from a simple but tasty lobster roll to a full lobster boil. All of this and more is available when sailing into Bar Harbor on a crewed yacht charter.

Originally, when settled in the 1700’s, this town was named and known as Eden, not being re-named Bar Harbor until 1913. By the late 1800’s, Eden rivaled Newport, Rhode Island, as a “Gilded Age” summer playground for the very wealthy, with huge mansions and coastal hotels built to enjoy the cooling summer breezes off the Atlantic Ocean.

Bass Harbor Head Light: Built in 1858, and still fully operational, this lighthouse is located on the southwestern reach of Acadia National Park; and warns mariners about Bar Harbor Bar, and guards the southern entrance of Blue Hill Bay. Now on the National Historic Register, the U.S. Coast Guard mans the station, which is not open to the public; however, for a closer look, visitors are welcome on the grounds.
