There are marine waxes that are designated for protecting the gel coat of your boat that you can purchase. Some owners believe that since they are different surfaces that buying the marine wax is not only worth the money, but a better investment for your boat.
I used all three of the waxes for my cars, Jeeps, and Boats. They are all great products and I feel confident sharing each of these with you. In no particular order… here
Many boat owners want to keep their boats in the best shape it can be. From cleaning to waxing, they are always looking for the best tools and products available. So, the question arises, can you use the same wax you use for your car on your boat?
Since a gel coat is simply laid over the fiberglass of a boat, they are more likely to oxidize than your car will, even if left out in the same conditions. Therefore, many boats are white, which helps to minimize the appearance of oxidation. You can still treat oxidation on your boat no matter the color by using a cleaner wax to help you remove it. more
My curiosity leads me to test this product on other surfaces. Specifically, I tried it on my camper’s glass windows. Surprisingly, this wax restored the clarity of the glass. It is as if weeks of dust and dirt did not exist on my RV’s windows.
This product can also restore the color and shine of old RVs. Furthermore, it is both flexible and versatile as I had little to no problem using this wax on different vehicles, such as cars, trucks, and boats.
It does not take an entire weekend to restore the beauty of a camper trailer with this product. It offers a four-step process to wash, clean, protect, and restore fiberglass surfaces.
Despite those slight shortcomings, this product can restore the color of fiberglass surfaces. Long-term sun exposure faded some of the colors on my camper.
As boats are exposed to sunlight for a long time, their color starts to fade out with time. But this can be prevented with the help of boat wax, and it will also add shine to the paint. [links]

Boat wax, popularly known as marine wax, is applied on the exterior body of the boats to maintain its color, shine, and goodness of a gel coat finish (Gel coat is the top layer of material used in making boat). Boat wax is a water-repellant, and thus it protects the boat from damage caused by saltwater and algae. By applying boat wax regularly, it makes the cleaning of boat surface easy, prevents paint oxidation and dirt can also be washed out with minimal efforts. [links]
Car wax can be used in place of boat wax if and only if the outer fiberglass surface of the boat is not oxidized. However, using car wax in place of boat wax is not recommended. The chemical composition of car wax is much different than that of the boat wax. Moreover, it will not last long on the boat surface, and it will require frequent re-application of it. As the gel coat of the boat is more prone to oxidation, only marine waxes should be used, and it will last longer.
