The cockpit is afforded good shelter by the flybridge overhang

The Horizon FD85 doesn’t just have superyacht-baiting deck spaces and interior volume on its side; it will tackle long-distance voyages

But in fact, the true essence of this vessel is its immense beam, which the design exploits to excellent effect, not just in the jaw-dropping first impression created by the deck saloon, with its wide open spaces and huge windows, but in the raised foredeck.

After admiring the saloon and strolling past the midships dining table, which is flanked by sliding glass doors leading out onto the sidedecks, you go through a door and find yourself in a lobby on the starboard side. From here a short companionway leads up to the wheelhouse, and a longer one heads down to the lower deck. There is also a day head. more

This encloses so much interior space that the Sirena 88’s Gross Tonnage – that spatial yardstick originally used to evaluate the capacity of cargo ships and now commonly applied to superyachts as well – is an astonishing 165GT. more

The new member of the fleet represents a continuation of the design and building program with this new larger member. She is a true expedition-go-anywhere small yacht in comfort and safety on a dynamically stabilized offshore design. According to the hull characteristics and design; it is an evolution of her smaller sister, a low resistance, sea kindly hull, that performs efficiently with a minimum of fuel consumption at high and at all speed ranges. The maximum speed will be in the order of 26 knots depending on the final power plant selected among the options offered. Cruising range will be 2000 miles at cruising speed.

Accommodations space is very generous, and includes the full width Owner cabin with its own balcony to the sea, plus four in-suite, one of them a very large VIP guest suite. Two formal dinner areas, one “al fresco” on the upper deck and a second on specially designated area on the main deck saloon are planned. The fully fitted bridge, is independent and separated from the rest of the interior accommodations with direct access to a double command on the fly bridge. The foredeck it is fitted with special sitting- sunbathing area on the foredeck fitted with an optional Jacuzzi. more

Sirena designs the 88 to be an expedition yacht with offshore capabilities. Noted naval architect German Frers drew a hull intended to run smoothly and efficiently. She highly customizable with a full-width beam master stateroom that has its own fold-out balcony and four more cabins to accommodate up to a dozen people. Dining options range from formal to al fresca and the stern is available in a variety of configurations.

The Salon. Moving down the stairs and to the main deck, it should be noted that all the Sirena 88’s decks are design to be floating to provide vibration and noise reduction. Inside, the manufacturer combined elegance with functional styling. Decking is hardwood, the overhead is 7’ (2.13m) off the deck and there’s recessed lighting in the valances. Windows run from the overhead down well below the backs of the lounges, letting in ample natural light. The seating starts with a sofa and two freestanding chairs around a lacquered coffee table to port. To starboard is another sofa. Attractive cabinetry work is done by Sirena’s in-house craftsmen and an artfully finished woodwork separates the salon from the formal dining area. Storage to starboard includes a wine chiller at the bottom. The dining area seats eight and the forward bulkhead has plenty of built-in storage. Doors to the side decks are on each side with a 4-footer (1.22 m) to port that leads to the galley and the mammoth 9’ (2.74 m) glass door to starboard that lets in a surplus of natural light. more

Because the Sirenna 88 is fully customizable, no two will be identical. The adaptable stern adds to the one-of-a-kind feel and buyers should expect to spend a good deal of time going over features to make the boat their own.

You can tell just by looking at the Sirena 88 that there’s a lot of boat in there. Note the plumb bow and the raised foredeck and wheelhouse, not to mention its dizzying height. It’s obvious that the designer started out by imagining something huge, and then just had to figure out how to squeeze it all into 88 feet. Usually, motoryachts in this size arrive from the opposite direction, as their shipyards scale up an existing model. more

The foredeck’s pool claims the spotlight, including teak sidedecks, a glass front and sunpads on either side.

Still, while there might be faster or more economical 88-foot motoryachts out there, none that I know of comes close to carrying the interior volume of the Sirena. They might be the same length, but that’s where all similarity ends—at 165 gross tons, this yacht is simply in another league. To compare it with those other craft is to fall victim to what those of a semantic inclination might term a category mistake. The Sirena is not an 88-foot motoryacht. It’s an 88-foot superyacht.
