The SeaGauge™ Remote Sensor Interface Units are the analog-to-digital converter boxes that makes the entire digital instrumentation hub possible with any engine data desired. The Remote Sensor Interface Units are an innovative approach to marine and automotive digital instrumentation. By localizing sensor connections near the engine and converting to a digital format, reliable transmission is now possible to multiple locations throughout the vessel.

The unit is designed for use with all SeaGauge Color Touch Screen Display Panels or and/or the SeaPC™ to create a modular instrumentation system. All units can handle up to 16 different inputs and 12 indicator lights. The gauges supported are as basic as simple temperature, pressures, voltage, current and fluid level senders, to more complicated tachometer, GPS speed, EGT, Boost and even fuel flow interfaces. Each unit can support instrumentation for 1, 2 or 3 engines with room to spare. more

Looking for a way to bring your older analog engine(s) online. The devices below allow you to connect them to your current engine guages and or senders. They convert this information to NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 protocals. While the Hybrid MD33 (both NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 capable) is powered with external power, the other NMEA 2000 only devices are powered off of the NMEA 2000 network. If you want to install one of these NMEA 2000 engine monitors you will need a NMEA 2000 backbone for power supply and data communication. A sample of a NMEA Starter Backbone can be seen by clicking here.

If you already have a NMEA 2000 backbone you will only need a cable of proper length and a tee to attached the Engine Monitoring Device to your backbone. Before ordering, it is recommended that you check to make sure your display device, whether a chartplotter, navigation software or other, has the capability to display the engine information. Keep in mind that a computer is required to do the inital calibration of these NMEA Engine Monitoring Interfaces. more

The steps are:
1) Install a gateway that converts engine data to N2K.
2) Connect your fuel tank level senders and outdrive trim level senders to the engine computers.
3) Install a VesselView, SmartCraft gauges, modern MFD, or some other way to display engine data.
4) Network everything together. more

The key questions are: what year is the boat, which engines, and do you have digital throttle and shift (DTS)? If it's a post-2003 boat with DTS, the conversion is much easier.

Here's the thread about my conversion. It's an extreme example . a conversion can be done for a lot less money and effort than I put into it.

Oh, wait. Your boat is an '88? Forget most of what I said. You need an analog-to-digital converter, not a gateway. Try this for starters: more
