“I will never have another 5ver with drum brakes again. The stopping power [with disc brakes] is incredible compared to the drum brakes. And yes I kept my drum brakes fully serviced and adjusted as I am an Auto Tech.” – wowlites iRV2 Forums Member more
Electric drum brakes are the default system for all but the most high-end towable RV trailers. In a perfect world, here’s how the system works:
Today, with hydraulic disc brakes, they generate 1500 to 1800 pounds of braking pressure. The automotive industry has made huge advancements in stopping distances, but not so in the trailer industry, according to Ronald Russel, president of Performance Trailer Braking. here
The only downside is the cost: an electric over hydraulic trailer disc brake conversion is about $3,000 if you hire a mechanic for installation. You’ll save about half if you can do this relatively simple job yourself.

The Lift-a-Load elevating platform trailer simplifies any loading or delivery situation due to its unique ability to hydraulically lower to ground height, raise to dock height or any level in between while remaining level throughout the procedure. Essentially a portable loading dock, the Lift-a-Load hydraulic trailer, unlike traditional drop deck trailers, eliminates dangerous slanted ramp boards and lets you deliver equipment without double handling. At transport position, the hydraulic trailer provides a low center of gravity for safe towing. When lowered, the hydraulic trailer allows a minimum loading angle ideal for low ground clearance or reduced gradeability vehicles such as fork lifts, sweepers, scissors lifters, safes, ATM’s, etc. For added versatility in low clearance doorways or to simply avoid obstacles, the hydraulic trailer can be lowered close to the ground to gain almost sixteen inches of headroom. The simple operation, unique flexibility and enhanced safety allow for one person to easily load and transport cargo.
Stop, Drop and Load your cargo faster and more efficiently with a new 16,000 lb capacity Lo Riser Inclining Platform Trailer. The updated Lo Riser Trailer features a 74″ x 16′ load carrying platform that can be hydraulically lowered to ground height. With just a flip of the control switch, you control the raising and lowering of the hydraulic trailer. The built-in ramp then allows smooth, drive-on access without any crown point to fight for quickly loading or unloading cargo or equipment. When lowered, this hydraulic trailer allows a minimum 4 degree angle ideal for low ground clearance or reduced gradeability vehicles. The simple operation, unique flexibility and enhanced safety of this hydraulic trailer easily allows one person to load and transport cargo. here
The Lo Riser Inclining Platform line of trailers is available with single or dual axle in 6000, 10,000, 12,000, 14,000 and 16,000 lb load capacities.
