If there are any damages present due to mildew, UV rays, or the elements, this also adds up to the total expenses. After all, the professional upholstery service may need to refurbish the seat first before proceeding with it. Either that or you can take care of the damage yourself, which should require a vinyl repair kit. here
There are many high-quality craftsmen and specialty upholsterers in other countries with far more reasonable rates than in the States. Keep this in mind if you’re planning a trip abroad. This is proven in the same above-mentioned Cruisers Forum discussion, where a UK-based boater paid for the full reupholstering of a 42-foot boat for only $1,800.
Marine-grade boat seat upholstery typically connotes high-quality, long-lasting materials like vinyl, polyester, and artificial leather. Most use vinyl and, naturally, they’re not cheap. Reupholstered boat seats tend to cost more than their dining room chair counterparts if done by a professional for this reason.
With all things considered, these facts should give you an idea of why there’s so much variability when determining the average cost to reupholster a boat. The cost to reupholster pontoon boat seats can be entirely different from the cost of a johnboat’s simply because the latter has fewer vinyl seats to accommodate. And that’s obviously just one factor. here

You'd just have to take your seats to upholsterers for estimates. Don't be surprised if new foam has to go into the seats, as it's about shot when the vinyl and seams wear out. And foam is now incredibly expensive stuff.

My wife and I have both been to upholstery school, but we're not professionals. The full time upholsterers seem to be 2nd and 3rd generation upholsterers, and the good ones appear to run 1-2 months behind meeting their promises. here
I had these redone at a local shop with oem material that I supplied. (There was also a seat cushion from the couch that was tossed in at the last minute.) Cost was $1050. He wasn't the cheapest shop but has the reputation for being the best so I figured it was worth it. The original estimate was $700 but he ended up putting in over 20 hours labor so the final price got bumped up. [links]
Living in a river community, we actually have an upholstery shop that does nothing but boats--and minor auto upholstery repairs. here
The cost of marine vinyl can vary quite a bit. For a good quality solid color vinyl, you can expect to pay $15 to $20 per yard. However you can buy high quality specialty design vinyl at over $100 per yard. It just depends on your choice of material. here
Boat seat reupholstery can be upwards of $80.00 per hour for the labor rate at a professional shop. Then add the cost of your marine vinyl of choice, and things add up quick. However, many boat seats can be recovered by doing it yourself. The cost is directly related to the extent of the damage.
It still works out to be a $375 savings by taking my boat upholstery business to a professional upholstery shop. Also with this choice, I don’t have to do any of the removal or installation of the covers. Nor do I have to fill out forms or do all the measuring. Besides the fact that my upholstery was done in 8 days!
You can get your marine vinyl from your local fabric store, but there won’t be much selection at all, and your cost per yard will likely be higher. There are plenty of online and physical locations selling marine vinyl, so look around. I have my own favorite place, but you may find something better for you. here
Having the ability to enjoy fishing from a bowrider boat, is a big deal. It allows you to use your family boat for fishing so you don't need to own two boats. Bowriders can be great.
