The latest season of Below Deck Med easily proved one of the most polarizing in the franchise's history. If you're not caught up yet with what's happened over the course of the charter season, here's an instant replay. One second stew quit. One chief stew got fired. Two new second stews came onboard. The chef got fired. A new chef was hired. The first female bosun of the franchise is on board. A deckhand got fired after filming, leaving him practically unseen on screen. A child of divorced parents who grew up in Florida and Southern California, Jessica spent her youth surfing at the beach where her love of the ocean was born. Before selling her belongings to work her first charter, she worked a multitude of jobs: slinging drinks at a Las Vegas strip club, working in the music industry in Los Angeles, and even dabbling into real estate. Despite her varied resume, she excelled at every job she tried. When the "real world" seemed too daunting, Jessica turned to yachting. She owes her ability to remain calm to her first stewardess job with a skeleton crew of three. Jessica is known for her laid-back demeanor and can handle a great deal of drama – until she feels disrespected. She approaches each charter with an open mind, but has no problem dealing with confrontation if necessary. Jessica hopes to find romance on board this season. more
A Below Deck Mediterranean veteran, Malia returns this season fueled with ambition and experience as she continues to climb the ranks towards her ultimate goal – to become a Super Yacht Captain. Never shy about making her mark in a male-dominated industry, Malia rose through the ranks on super yachts and now has her 200-ton Captain’s License with no limit in sight. Growing up with five older brothers set the tone for her adventure-seeking, active lifestyle. A certified dive master, Malia has backpacked the world, even teaching scuba and water sport lessons throughout the Bahamas and Hawaii. This season, Malia will take on even more responsibility and pressure as she leads a new deck team and charter guests through adventurous, nature-filled excursions.
Born and raised in the sailing hub of Rhode Island, Mathew knew he wanted to be a Chef by the age of 12. His mother ran a macrobiotic cooking school in the 80’s, which nurtured his passion for cuisine and food preparation from an early age. Mathew’s first experience in the galley began when he went on tour with Greenpeace, where he was hired as an assistant to a classically-trained French Chef who became his mentor. While crossing the ocean from port to port, he realized he could pursue a career in the yachting industry and continue to cook and travel. With high-end clientele such as Hugh Jackman, Rupert Murdoch and more, Mathew has cooked for an extensive list of the top one-percenters of the world. This season, Mathew brings his experience and passion to the galley while taking on some of the most demanding charter guests and a few unexpected challenges. [links]
Originally from the Bahamas, Lexi moved to the states for college after receiving a scholarship for Track and Field. This beauty has competed in pageants and represented the Bahamas in the 2013 Miss Universe pageant. During her time in Florida, she coincidentally met a yacht captain who invited her to come work as a stewardess on his boat and hasn't looked back since. Even when she is in uniform, Lexi manages to remain glamourous and have a good time. Lexi joins the crew as the second stew and is always one to prioritize service to the guests. more
A Fort Lauderdale native with over three decades of yachting experience under her belt, Captain Sandy is one of the most respected captains in the industry. Captain Sandy knew she wanted her career to revolve around the ocean from a very young age and was not discouraged when she discovered yachting to be a male-dominated field. Knowing the difficulties that come with leading an entire team while providing 5-star service, she makes it her mission to know everything and every department on the boat. Coming off the most trying season of her career yet, Captain Sandy hopes for a return to calmer waters and is determined to give charter guests an unforgettable experience. This season, the crew goes to the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia and Sandy is up for the challenge as she attempts to cultivate a new dream team aboard 180-foot mega yacht “Lady Michelle.”
A New Zealand native, Katie always had an affinity for travel and adventure. She joined the yachting industry over six years ago, and quickly established herself as a perfectionist with a keen eye for detail and a strong work ethic. With experience on both charter and private yachts, Katie is no stranger to managing demanding owners and charter guests. No matter how difficult the request, she always manages to get it done and flawlessly. Joining mega yacht Lady Michelle, Katie heads the interior department bringing her high attention to detail and unparalleled work ethic.
