The good:
-Boat hull / fiberglass in excellent shape (Hydroswifts known for heavy duty construction—24oz “woven roving” fiberglass sandwiched between two layers of mat, creating an abnormally thick hull that can take a beating). Polished recently and still shines
- Engine (302 cid V8) runs fine (unknown hours, but recently re-wired with new harness and has a newer carburetor). Serviced annually and starts up every time.
- Interior in good condition—always stored under cover, no rips/tears
- All electrical works (sound system, lights, bilge pump, horn, depth finder, GPS, etc)
- Comes with 1992 tandem axle trailer that I have over $2,000 in receipts from upgrading over the last year (axles, bearings, upgraded electric brakes, wiring, lights, tires). Trailer has permanent tags and clear title. Comes with spare tire.
- Always a freshwater boat (original owner had it at Lake Mead, then the family I bought it from used it locally in AZ for 20 years, then me for the last 3)
- Registration tags current through Feb 2022
- Boat turns heads at every lake/gas station/parking lot I’ve had it at here

The bad:
- OMC Stern Drive (model JX-245) had the bearing lock up on the main shaft in the upper unit. Lower unit has been removed (everything works and have all the hardware for lower unit), but upper unit needs overhauling with a new main shaft and bearing.
o Did my research on the outdrive repair—still a few shops in town that service them, and parts are still available online (Stone & Sons Marine out of Texas, boatparts.ca out of Toronto, etc), but I don’t have the time or money to get in to another project right now
- Lower unit needs a propeller (shop that took it apart to diag didn’t put it back on when I picked up..)
- Has 2 separate 25 gallon steel fuel tanks—no issue with port side tank, but starboard side tank has fuel that’s gone bad and needs pumped out (just never got around to it, and have switch routed to port tank so never sucked up bad fuel into engine)

For sale is my 1972 Hydroswift 2500 “Knotty ‘Nana” (deep V-hull, cuddy cabin, hard top)—boat is NOT RUNNING. I have owned it for 3 years and used it dozens of times at local lakes until I had an issue with the OMC outdrive this summer. I am getting married this fall and can’t afford another project in the driveway, so parting ways with it.

Wish I had the bandwidth to either repair the current OMC setup or retrofit with a modern drive setup, but unfortunately not at that stage in life. Asking $3000—make an offer. Boat is currently stored near downtown Phoenix.

Don't don't DON'T buy a boat without a test drive. Boats do work in cold weather, you know. more

2 years. It is a 1988 21 ft cuddy cabin. It's cold in this area so I won't be able to test drive it. Is there anything I can do to check if it's a lemon without dropping it in the water? By the way, it would be my first boat, so I don't know much about this stuff.

The motor will need (at a minimum) new batteries, carb rebuild, and water pump rebuild before being put back in service. more

At a minimum, compression test the motor. If the lowest cylinder isn't within 5 or 7% of the highest, walk away. here
