Keep in mind when considering a floating dock that anything less than 6 feet wide may be very unstable. [links]

Pipe docks and lift docks are ideally suited to locations where the lake bottom is not too soft and the water is not too deep.

If the bottom is silty, you can put an18”x18” concrete pier pad under the base pads. If you have a pipe dock or a lift dock with a very large boat tied to it, we recommend putting an additional large concrete block under the dock, which you can cable the dock to for extra stability. This should keep your dock from upsetting in a storm. [links]

We’ve all been there—who hasn’t had to board a boat at some point during an otherwise lazy summer afternoon to rescue an errant floating dock?

A standard pipe dock can go in water up to about 6 feet deep. The normal way to access it would be via a ramp that either rests on the shoreline or attaches to a plate mounted on your rock shoreline. You can go out as far as you like, so long as the water isn’t too deep.

To secure your yacht in place for any length of time, your choices include anchoring, mooring, or docking the boat. All these terms refer to securing your boat in position on the water – for hours, days, or months at a time.

If you have enough hands on-deck, backing the boat up will likely get you close enough to the mooring point via the stern rather than the bow, making things a little simpler, depending on the shape of your boat. here

To moor a boat at a mooring buoy out in open water, you’ll need something to grab hold of the buoy with, such as a boat hook or a line. You can either lasso the buoy with your line and pull your boat towards it to further secure it or use a boat hook to reach out and grab the buoy. more

This method is ineffective in most cases. A wave pounding against the bottom of the decking will lift the dock straight up. Once the leg is pulled out, the dock usually will twist or roll-over due to the continuous pounding from the waves.

In some situations, even though the dock height is set correctly, a neighbors boat or other floating debris will hit your dock. You can’t prevent every situation. [links]

If a majority of the piers are set “low” to the water, it’s probably safe for you to do the same.

Others were damaged because they ran out of pipe length and did not want to replace the pipes with longer ones. With the higher water levels the past few years, pipes that are too short are getting common. [links]

There are 4 common areas to dock a pontoon boat: a stationary dock, a portable dock, a floating dock or on a boat lift. You can anchor a pontoon boat anywhere on the water, as long as you are not obstructing other water users. You will need the appropriate type of anchor for the water bottom you are anchoring though.

Step 3. As you near the dock put the boat in reverse to slow it down. Keep reversing until you are approximately 20 feet from the dock. Then put the boat back into neutral. more
