We’ll take a look at some budget friendly options from well known parts manufacturers and dealers, as well as some top quality packages from big name brands. Before we get into rocker arm options though, let’s be clear about a couple of critical facts.

Next up is the multi compatible small block Mopar rocker arms from Hughes Engines. They will fit your factory ‘OE’ LA iron heads, the LA Edelbrock Mopar heads as well as the Indy LA – X heads and ProMaxx heads. These rockers are made specifically for Hughes Engines. The following features include: [links]
The next thing to consider is rocker arm ratio. For most pump gas street applications, the factory 1.5 rocker arm ratio will be just fine. If you opt for a 1.6 or more rocker arm ratio, be sure to check pushrod clearance. You’ll need to turn the engine a few revolutions to be sure that the pushrod doesn’t interfere with the side of the block or head. more

We do not recommend routing the PCV line to the rear of the carburetor. We recommend that the PCV line go to the front, if you have power brakes, they go to the rear.

With a Edelbrock wet plate system there is no need to recalibrate the carburetor. With a wet plate system, the extra fuel is supplied through the plate.

If this is carb related your calibration might be a little off. First try the different positions on the accelerator pump arm. The top hole closest to the pivot point will give you the biggest pump shot, the bottom hole will give you the smallest pump shot of fuel. In most cases this will take care of the problem. Also, be sure your idle mixture is adjusted properly, the idle mixture still plays a roll right off idle. If these things don’t solve the problem then you will need to recalibrate the carburetor. If you can notice a difference in performance with the different pump arm positions then this will help you. If the top hole closest to the pivot point works the best the engine wants more fuel and if the bottom hole works the best then the engine wants less fuel.
Performer, Thunder Series AVS and AVS2 carbs come with factory-set float levels and are ready to bolt on and go. Installation & tuning DVD included with every new carb.
With a new Edelbrock carburetor, you can expect your classic hot rod, street machine or truck to run smoother, start quicker and deliver better low-end throttle response.

Change jets, replace needles/seats and adjust floats on any Edelbrock carburetor without having to drain the fuel from the bowls or remove the carb from the manifold. [links]

2nd Issue:
I put my vacuum gauge on the far right port on the front and it reads 16" Hg. On the far left port (distributor vacuum advance port) I read nothing at all. Did not change under acceleration. I tried spraying carb cleaner through this port and it comes out in the venturi, so it doesn't appear to be plugged.

I just put a carburetor kit in my Edelbrock 600 cfm 4 barrel caburetor (1406). It does run, but not well. I checked all passages for plugging by spraying carb cleaner in them and verified they aren't plugged.

1st Issue:
While tuning the idle adjustment screws I noticed that the right screw does not affect the engine idle at all when I run it all the way in until it seats. The left one greatly affects the idle when this is done, as it should. It idles fine, but hesitates under acceleration and under load. [links]

This is an old carb that came installed on my truck. Not sure if something was damaged by a previous owner. I had to bend one of the linkages back into place because the previous owner did something funky to it. Makes me suspicious of this thing now. What else did he do?
