So you decided to book your bachelor party to the wonderful St. Maarten? There are two sides to this island oasis, so if you are planning a wild party, you need to make sure you stay on the Dutch Side, not the French Side (Dutch side is perfect for what you are trying to accomplish).
Want to see the beaches of St. Maarten in a different way? Consider renting an ATV or quad bike or taking one of the popular quad bike tours that show you around the island, letting you take in the scenery, while getting you off of the beaten path.
St. Maarten/ St. Martin is a Caribbean island that is half Dutch and half French. There is an international airport located on the Dutch side of the island and regional airport located on the French side of the island. You can get to the island by plane or by boat, but the boat trip would require a charter from another location, as there is not regular boat service between the island and other destinations. St. Maarten is a very popular cruise destination, but generally cruises stop there for a day or possibly an overnight, but they do not drop off and pick passengers for longer stays.

Established in 1990, this elegant Frenchtown bistro and wine bar attracts a sophisticated, mature crowd who love the wine, martinis, champagne (which can be ordered by the glass), and old-school craft cocktails. You can order food too: nosh on appetizers like truffle goat cheese, bruschetta and ceviche, or order a full meal of locally caught fish, Kobe meatloaf, or salmon and brie crepes. A renovation in 2012 added an awning-covered outdoor patio, which is the perfect place to see the beautiful view over the harbor, if you arrive before the sun goes down. Also open for lunch. This split-level entertainment venue is the newest addition to St. Thomas's nightlife scene. Though not as swank or exclusive as clubs in Manhattan or Miami, Starz has more than enough goodies to keep folks coming back for more: theres the Johnny Walker Bar downstairs, the Grey Goose VIP bar upstairs, a state of the art sound system, LED lighting, soundproof walls, and bottle service. The crowd is a 50-50 mix of locals and tourists, who come to dance, drink, and see the revolving lineup of DJs. Special events are frequent and include stand-up comedy shows, open mic nights, blues and jazz nights, club nights, ladies nights, and more. The US Virgin Islands' only officially licensed microbrewery also has a lively after-dark scene. The diverse beer menu features porter, red, pale ale and stout, plus seasonal brews. Cocktails include popular island concoctions like the Painkiller and Cruzan Confusion, which can be used to wash down hearty entrees like burgers, Cajun gumbo, clam strips, and ribeye steak. Evening entertainment include sports on TV, live music, and the ever-popular Monday night crab races. The pub's got an ideal location right on the edge of the Christiansted harbor, where you can watch the twinkling lights, or feed table scraps to the circling tarpon below. more
Duffy's is literally just a shack – in the middle of a parking lot, no less – but it's also a St. Thomas institution with a big reputation. The huge, creatively-named tropical drinks, mouthwatering grub, and young, enthusiastic crowd make it one of the most popular nightspots in the whole island. Revelers can loosen up with drinks such as the The Revenge of Godzilla, the Love Shack Volcano (a flaming 50-ounce beverage that's not for the faint-of-heart), or the Blast Off, which comes in a spaceship-shaped goblet. Things heat up once the music starts and the strobe lights start flashing; dancing on tables is not discouraged. But try not to bump your head on the wall-mounted animatronic shark, which goes into "attack" mode every couple of hours. The tiki-hut-themed bar is not hard to find – just follow the sound of music to the parking lot of Red Hook Plaza (the unusual location being a result of its previous home being demolished during a hurricane a few years back).
Villa Palm Beach, a 5 bedroom waterfront villa on Lorient beach, and it is still available for New Years, for $140,000 a week. Surfing and snorkeling are available in the waters in front of the villa, and it is has some of the best views on the island. [links]

The Eden Rock in St Jean has the new Rock Bar, and mixed with food by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s, is the perfect retreat. The new Shellona Restaurant replaces the now closed Do Brasil on Shell Beach, Orega sushi opened in the former Le Sapotillier spot in Gustavia, La Guerite was renovated in Gustavia, and BO Kao opened at the Carre D’or. For the ultimate location to ring in the New Year, and one of my favorite places to celebrate, Nikki Beach Club, offered up live performances by John Legend and DJ Jack-E and Paul McCartney performed with the Killers at another private party. more
Some of the new changes on St. Bart’s this year include the new Le Barthélemy Hotel & Spa which opened in October. The hotel has only 46 rooms and suites and features the sexy Ocean Lux Suite with private pool. The resorts new Aux Amis restaurant is led by Chef Guy Martin. The former Francoise Plantation, an Inn located in the hills of Colombier that has been vacant for years just reopened as Villa Marie. Its restaurant is called "Francoise Plantation" in honor of the former Inn which has a reputation for serving elegant meals. more
Villa Olive is still available for New Years, for $110,000 a week. This modern 4 bedroom villa is located high above Gouverneur beach and has amazing views of the bay below and of Anguilla and St Martin in the distance. It features one of the largest heated pools on the entire island.
