Additionally, is Synthetic 2 stroke oil better? Synthetic 2-stroke oil products have lower deposits and emissions largely to having a lower ash content, and some, like AMSOIL recommend leaner mixtures (so you use less). For these reasons, a number of manufacturers now recommend synthetic oil for 2-stroke engine use.

Then, is all 2 stroke oil the same?

Comparing regular lubricating oil with two-stroke oil, the relevant difference is that two-stroke oil must have a much lower ash content. A more viscous oil cannot reliably be passed through an injection system, although a premix machine can be run on either type. more

Did you know that 2 stroke oil is usually dyed blue or green. This makes it easy to tell if it has been added to your petrol (which is yellow). So if you are ever unsure if the fuel has been mixed yet- just tip some out to see what colour it is. If it is yellow it is likely straight petrol. here
Two-Stroke vs. Lawn mower engines come in two different basic designs: two-stroke and four-stroke engines. Two-stroke engines require that you mix the oil right in with the gasoline; there is not oil crankcase to fill or maintain. here

If a little oil is poured into the gas tank of a car, it burns up in the engine cylinders, causing the car to produce blue smoke and run roughly until the oil is gone. If oil has accidentally been added to the gas tank of a vehicle, it can be diluted with gasoline to mitigate the effects of the oil on the engine. here

Gas can be very expensive so it’s not ideal to just waste it. Another reason this is a problem is because when gas and oil mix, this causes the oil to lose its ability to lubricate the engine parts. When oil can’t do its job properly, these parts start to create a lot of friction and then the engine could overheat. here

SAE 30- Warmer temperatures, most common oil for small engines. SAE 10W-30- Varying temperature range, this grade of oil improves cold-weather starting, but may increase oil consumption. Synthetic SAE 5W-30- Best protection at all temperatures as well as improved starting with less oil consumption.
Excess oil can produce a smoky exhaust, oil leaking out of the muffler, and sometimes loss of power. While not ideal, these issues can be fixed by simply replacing the fuel in the tank with properly mixed fuel. But running a two-cycle engine with too little oil can actually destroy the unit.

You just fired up your dirt bike for the first time in a while, and it is billowing smoke. What does that mean? Dirt bike smoke is unnerving! Should you shut it off or just let it warm up?
When you first start a dirt bike, everything will be cold. As the exhaust starts to warm up, the condensation that is in the exhaust piping will start to warm up as well. This ultimately causes it to vaporize as steam. When the entire exhaust system has heated up enough to vaporize all of the condensation, the smoke goes away.
The second cause of excess smoke is the power valve. Some 2 strokes have a power valve that is designed to help smooth out the power curve of the bike. These get dirty over time and need to be cleaned. If you have the right oil mixture and are still getting excessive smoke than go ahead and clean the power valve.

Also asked, how long can a 2 stroke engine run without oil? [links]
Similarly, why is my 2 stroke smoking so much? But you're in luck if you've got a 2-Stroke. Those engines normally emit a blue/gray smoke. But if it's excessive then you've got a burning oil problem, a rich fuel condition like noted above, a bad spark plug or a malfunctioning power valve. Leaking valve seals. more

Without oil, the engine runs for around 15 minutes without bursting into a cloud of smoke, but taking it apart reveals some serious damage. here

2-Stroke Oil Mix Calculator For a 50:1 ratio of gas to oil, use 2.6 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 40:1 mixture, use 3.2 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas. For a 32:1 mixture, use 4 fluid ounces of oil per gallon of gas.

If you do not use enough or any 2-stroke oil it will cause wear on the piston cylinder walls as there is not enough / no lubrication for it to run as smooth as it should. 2-stroke oil is not compressible so it creates a film between the piston ring and the wall to stop them touching.
