Barbossa wed the two right before Will was stabbed in the heart. Jack gave Will a blade and let him stab the heart of Davy Jones with his remaining strength. After that, Will was brought back to life, albeit as the ferryman for the undead. He consummated his marriage with Elizabeth and they parted ways.

This was the first installment in the franchise, and it managed to outclass most of its successors. The movie was just perfect from start to finish and had a very satisfying ending. The film owes its success majorly to Johnny Depp because of the way he presented Captain Jack. From the beginning, it was obvious what type of character Jack would be. Though many mistook him as a failure for a pirate, it was later discovered that he captained The Black Pearl. After he was betrayed and lost The Pearl, he set out in search of a means to retake his beloved. The movie showed how he burrowed into the lives of Elizabeth and Will Turner, and how he became a part of their lives. The struggle to save Elizabeth from Barbossa, as well as obtaining the Pearl, made each scene captivating. This particular movie could have made a great video game. To this day, this movie is praised as the most satisfying one of all the installments in the franchise.

He wasn't content with just having the Black Pearl; he needed the heart of Davy Jones in order to Captain The Flying Dutchman. Will Turner also needed the heart to free his father from his curse and former Commodore, Norrington needed it to get his life back. It was interesting to see all parties fight over possession of the heart. The movie ended in a devastating defeat for Jack and his friends as Jack was taken by the Kraken and his ship along with him. This story was hilarious, heartbreaking, and overall entertaining. [links]

This was the second movie in the franchise, and fans were excited to know that there was going to be another Pirates Of The Caribbean movie. Here, our pirate hero had to deal with two villains that were breathing down his neck. Lord Becket wanted his compass and Davy Jones wanted his soul. In this movie, we got to see just how ambitious Captain Jack Sparrow can be. [links]

So far, there have been 5 different installments in the franchise, and while each one is interesting in its own right, the movies are not all of the same caliber. It's a fact that the movies were pulling in fewer accolades at the box office with each release, but hopefully, the new movie will liberate the franchise. With that in mind, how do the films stack up against each other in terms of quality?

While the Pirates of the Caribbean movies have had their faults, it still remains as one of the greatest Disney stories. How do they rank together?

We just don’t see much of the adventure genre these days. For whatever reason, swashbuckling and the 21st century aren’t on the best terms. There are spy thrillers aplenty. You can hardly throw a rock without hitting eighteen different superhero films. But historical action romps? In this economy? I think not!

That first Pirates of the Caribbean film’s confidence in its genre is remarkable. It’s a true-blue classic historical adventure film with a narrative structure so tight you can bounce a penny off it. The film (which spawned four sequels and maybe another on the way) doesn’t just paste a modern outlook onto the conventions of an atrophying genre. Rather, it genuinely integrates the fundamental building blocks of an adventure film into its script. here

It is a dark time as the Age of Piracy nears to a close. Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander) of the East India Company has gained control of the terrifying ghost ship, the Flying Dutchman, and its malevolent, vengeful Captain, Davy Jones (Bill Nighy). The Dutchman now roams the seven seas, unstoppable, destroying pirate ships without mercy, under the command of Admiral Norrington (Jack Davenport). Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) and Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) embark on a desperate quest to gather the Nine Lords of the Brethren Court, their only hope to defeat Beckett, the Flying Dutchman, and his Armada. But one of the Lords is missing—Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), either the best or worst pirate ever, and now trapped in Davy Jones' Locker, thanks to his encounter with the monstrous Kraken. In an increasingly shaky alliance, our heroes, including Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris), Pintel (Lee Arenberg) and Ragetti (Mackenzie Crook) must first travel to dangerous, exotic Singapore and confront Chinese pirate Captain Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat) to gain charts, and a ship, that will take them off to world's end, to rescue Jack. But even if Captain Jack is successfully rescued, the gathering of the legendary Brethren Court may not be enough to hold back the fearsome tide of Beckett, Davy Jones and their powerful Armada. unless the capricious sea goddess Calypso, imprisoned in human form, can be freed and convinced to come to their aid. here

As Gore Verbinski was unavailable due to his commitment with Rango the same year, both Jerry Bruckheimer and Johnny Depp chose Rob Marshall to direct the film. Elliott and Rossio wrote in close collaboration with Jerry Bruckheimer, Rob Marshall, Johnny Depp and Bruckheimer's production heads, Executive Producers Mike Stenson and Chad Oman. Depp was instrumental in the design of On Stranger Tides, from lines of dialogue to the inclusion and development of the new characters. [29] [27] Among Depp's ideas were bringing in an official Spanish contingent to follow the protagonists so this would not be just a tale of "pirates following pirates", recalled Terry Rossio, and the star also urged the writers to turn the character Philip Swift, who was originally a swashbuckling character, into a missionary. Afterwards, Rob Marshall and executive producer John DeLuca met Rossio and Elliot, and did alterations of their own, including building the female lead. [31] After the costly production of two simultaneous films, Disney tried to scale down the fourth installment, giving a lower budget, [32] [33] It was also the first major "exterior movie" to be shot in 3D, as other films, such as Avatar, were mostly done in sound stages.
