We ended up not rebleeding the lines as the problem seemed to correct itself on its own, however, this happened probably 5-6 times that day. [links]

I've got a 150 HP Mercury Optimax and on a trip a few months back the alarm was going off (constant high pitched beep). We nixed the plans to head to Catalina that day while I investigated what was up with the motor.

My initial guess is that its either low oil or a bubble in the line. I check and there's plenty of oil in the tank. Took a look at the oil reserve under the cowel and it looks fine too.

Well, we gave it a go and it looked fine from all accounts. However I took the boat out recently and after a short ride (10-15 minutes) the alarm goes off again. We bled the lines once more and it seemed to remedy the problem, but an hour or so later, the alarm goes off again. more

Now I'm thinking there must be an air bubble in the line. A quick search on the internet and I find that to bleed the line, you need to go under the cowel to the reserve tank. Start the engine up and gently turn the black screw on top of the reserve. Any air in the line would clear out via the unscrewed cap and we should be good. more

Any idea whats going on here? Is it more air getting in the lines? Is it not the oil line and something else? Has anyone else experienced this? [links]
