Yes you can add a swing tongue. You cannot, however, use regular hose for the joint. It must be flexible brake line hose just like those at each wheel on your car. Regular hose would burst at the first stop. [links]
my trailer has surge brakes and brake away tounge.it has a rubber hose coming from master cylinder and a quik disconect.. here
