Interesting post. We have the Simrad system on our new Bennington. When we go the boat, they said the depth finder wont read depth's when we get past about 10-15 mph. Seems odd to me, but I didn't question it. I just assumed that's how it goes with a pontoon. Perhaps its just a mounting issue. more

150 HP (2013) Mercury Fourstroke with 15x15P SS Enertia (Thanks Todd!) - 41 MPH at 5800 RPM, light load. 39 MPH at 5700 RPM, heavy load. Love this motor. [links]

We've never had luck with ours since we bought it almost two years ago, and it has just gotten progressively worse. We are also in WI, and we keep our boat in the water in our slip, so we thought perhaps it was just all of the river scum that collects on everything. However, cleaning didn't help, adjusting didn't help.

This has to be fixed since we boat on the Mississippi River which changes level all the time.

If you’re in a paddling kayak, you’ll probably want it directly in front of you, out of your paddling area. If you’re pedaling, a gunwale-mounted fish finder works just as well. Many kayaks now have tracks, and that is rapidly becoming the preferred mounting method. more

Has this ever happened to anyone else? Any suggestions? I’m thinking about a separate mounting plate and rod or something to mount the transducer to so I can drop it down the other side of the bow, not by the motor. Maybe they sell something like this?
