Since I don't use the changing room on my 2008 2275 GSI, I would like to remove the mechanism from which the canvas "room" hangs, thereby increasing the storage area in which to place fishing gear, etc.. However, I wish to reinstall the mechanism in the future when I sell the boat.

The mechanism is fastened by bolts through the lid to nuts on the top side of the lid under the padding.

I need to know how these bolts are secured to the lid. If they are secured by "T nuts" (which are driven into the wood), then they should not become loose when I remove the bolts, and they should remain in place for when I want to reinstall the mechanism. But if they are not secured in place by some means, they could become loose and move when the bolts are removed and I will not be able to reattach the mechanism unless I remove the padded cover, which I do not wish to do.

24-SSL (2012) Express w/6 strakes, awesome cable steering because I'm cheap, big gouge in pontoon where marina staff sideswiped their dumpster, redneck emergency toilet via bucket with a toilet seat glued to it (hey, its just a toilet), polished toons and a broken ladder strap. Hoping to log my 200th trip out this year (2018).

Of course, the convenience factor might be reason enough for you to consider getting a boat with a bathroom or setting one on-board. But there are a bunch of other reasons to have one installed.

Your changing room or bimini top hanging curtain can't be in place when your boat in underway. Changing rooms and curtains have large surface areas that make them a hazard especially against strong winds. This can be particularly dangerous for pontoon boats capable of higher speeds.

Always stow away all of your pontoon porta potty essentials if you're still underway. Once the fun is over and you're ready to head back home, make sure you collapse the changing room, tuck away the bimini curtains, and keep all of the other bathroom essentials in storage.

This luxury pontoon boat features its own bathroom nested in the center tube. Complete with a porcelain toilet, a faucet and sink, a shower head, and running fresh water, the bathroom features a dual-hatch system that makes it easy to access.

Many mechanics might recommend against changing brand of outboard because it would require re-rigging the boat. But the fact is, since you are repowering, the chances are that the engine you are replacing has outdated cable steering and throttle control. One of the reasons to repower is to get rid of this old-fashioned system. here

A single Mercury Verado 350 weighs 668 pounds (303 kg) which results in 1.9 pounds (.86 kg) per hp. Factor in the additional weight savings of the missing battery and rigging for the second motor plus the reduced drag from not having the second gearcase in the water and the speed difference would be negligible. Fuel consumption might also be improved. here

In any re-power project the first step needs to be making sure that the boat is still healthy. Spend a few hundred dollars on a good surveyor and find out if the boat is sound. Is the laminate sound? Are the stringers still attached? Is there water intrusion into the transom? A boat that looks great on the outside can have hidden problems, so get it checked out.

On a more extreme level, Seven Marine makes the largest outboards in the industry with V-8 powerheads based on a General Motors LS engine. They are available in 557 and 627-hp and were originally intended to replace larger numbers of lower-output motors on the back of a given boat. here

Evinrude’s Conversion Solution. For those who want to save money on installation, Evinrude has created a clever “conversion module” which takes existing cables and puts them into a box that converts mechanical control movements to digital signals. here
