By boat it would take a while from Knoxville but it's very doable. Lock out of Loudon, 70 miles down through Watts Bar to Chick, about 60 miles to Nickajack. here

There is a ramp at the Marine Corps across the Alcoa Highway Bridge that's only about 3 or 4 miles from Neyland. [links]
