One of the ‘holes’ should be where the bilge pump ejects water. You should be able to identify the bilge ejection port, while the boat is on the trailer, use a garden hose to put some water in the bottom of the boat and turn on the bilge pump. Never plug this hole, you will burn out your bilge pump. [links]
Install a Pump Box A pump box is the best solution, so consider it during your livewell pump installation. Bilge pumps work here because they use the same motors and impellers as in centrifugal livewell pumps. more
In the case of a 30-gallon livewell, a pump that pushes 1,260 gph or more will keep most baits in prime condition. For a 50-gallon tank, a pump with 2,100 gph or more would do the trick. [links]
Livewell pump capacity is a major factor affecting aeration • efficiency. Pumps should move at least 500 gallons of water per hour (gph) to assure maximum aeration. Replace existing pumps if they do not deliver at least 500 gph per livewell.
The auto setting will let the livewell fill up, lets water freely flow back and forth between the well and the lake, and automatically closes when you get on plane. When I catch a fish I put it on “Auto” and leave it there all day, unless the water gets really hot or nasty, then I will switch to “recirc”. here
I have a 2008 Triton 240 that i got last summer. This spring I want to start live bait fishing. I have never used live bait before so I have e few questions. Picture this scenario, I fill up the live well on my way to catch bait in the inlet etc. I am catching bait and putting it in the live well. Now that I have enough I want to head out 25 miles for some grouper action. I've been told that I should not have the live well on while I am cruising. Is that correct? If so, then won't my bait die. Will water circulate enough to keep them going? What's the procedure? I have been fishing, both bottom and trolling, but with dead or artificial. Someone please school me on the do's and dont's of livewell use. What switches at the helm, under the hatch, and in the well itself do I use and for what. Just to make it clear the live well is tied in to the raw water wash down. Thanks [links]

This one is a very basic setup. I pump that fills the boat. The only recirculation is to overfill it. [links]
It is working fine. The previous owner had said that it just would not fill. I believe he was trying to fill it while under his main motor. [links]
The pump runs, the tubes do not appear to be blocked, but no water goes in.
I have read about impellers, but don't fully grasp the idea. Any suggestions are appreciated. more
