While plot details are being kept in Davey Jones’ locker, the project, in early development, is not intended to be a spinoff of the long-running franchise that had pirate Jack Sparrow at its center, but rather a wholly original story with new characters under the Pirates moniker, itself inspired by the long-running attraction at Disneyland. more

Pirates of the Caribbean is one of the most lucrative film franchises of all time, grossing over $4.5 billion across five feature films. But the Pirates franchise, fronted by Johnny Depp, has shown its age, with the fifth installment, 2017’s Dead Men Tell No Tales, coming in with the second-lowest box office of the series ($795 million, unadjusted worldwide) only ahead of original film Curse of the Black Pearl. The studio has been plotting ways to revive the brand with stories from new talent. more
The new project is said to be separate from the already announced reboot of the popular franchise that has Pirates scribe Ted Elliott and Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin developing the story. more
Sea of Thieves is still in the middle of Season 2, although of course, the bigger news is the Pirates of the Caribbean expansion which is coming today for free to the game, which was announced at Microsoft’s Xbox conference at E3 last week. When the game comes back up, players will be able to join up with Captain Jack Sparrow, meet the voodoo lady Tia Dalma, and fight Davey Jones and his ghost ship the Flying Dutchman. [links]
Sea of Thieves servers are currently offline and they should return around 12:00 midday BST if previous updates and their maintenance periods are any indication. Sea of Thieves went down for maintenance related to the A Pirate’s Life expansion at 10:00 BST today. It is still currently offline, and although developer Rare has not offered an exact time that the servers will be back up, previous expansion updates such as Ashen Winds have only been a couple of hours, so the game should be back soon. more
The Sea of Thieves servers are now offline so that Sirens, spectres, crustaceans and forces from beyond the horizon can all get ready for your return. Steel yourselves and summon your crews – you'll be fighting for the pirate's way of life when you next set sail! pic.twitter.com/aU5b5JamSH— Sea of Thieves (@SeaOfThieves) June 22, 2021
The big new Pirates of the Caribbean-themed update has put the game down for maintenance, so how long will Sea of Thieves be down for today, June 22? A lot of Sea of Thieves maintenance is going on for the A Pirate’s Life expansion, and as the game’s offline right now players are eager to get back into the game and meet Jack Sparrow. When will the Sea of Thieves servers be back up? Let’s have a look.
The sadder news. but something that should probably be expected, is that Johnny Depp will not be playing Captain Jack Sparrow in the A Pirate’s Life storyline. It is most likely Jared Butler, who portrays Jack in the Kingdom Hearts series of games from Square Enix. Butler seems to be doing a good job, so it’s probably best not to complain. more
Many fans complained about how bogged down the last Pirates of the Caribbean movie felt trying to tie up all its lose ends while still adding new characters and plot lines, so the studio went back to the single minded approach that made the original Pirates so successful. On Stranger Tides is a stand alone Pirates film that only brings back a handful of characters from the previous films. and leaves much to be desired. The film has all the requisite Jack Sparrow one liners as well as kinetic action sequences, but beyond that tried formula, everything else falls dead. Penelope Cruz has a difficult time being anyone other than Penelope Cruz, and while Geoffrey Rush is back as Barbosa, his character feels out of place and wasted here. Ian McShane was inspired casting as ruthless pirate Blackbeard, but isn't given very much to do. Johnny Depp brings back the familiar running style and over used mouth of Sparrow, but many of his jokes fall flat. The film also feels much longer than its already long 141 minute run time. There are a few positives in the film including the return of Sparrow's right hand man Gibbs and the sparring back and forth between them. The quest to the fountain of youth is also a great choice for a Pirates movie, however the end of that quest is lackluster. Also the film takes a turn towards darkness when Blackbeard decides its time to catch a mermaid, however the darkness and creepiness that is initially there dissipates quickly into silliness. Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides is worth watching on a Saturday afternoon in the comfort of your living room, but is no longer the must see series that it started out being. I give it 5 Ninja Stars out of 10.
I would have to agree with Maximus on almost all his points. The only thing we disagree on is that I believe there really hasn't been a good pirates since the first one (the second one was just ok and the third one was terrible). So my expectations were a lot lower because I figured it would not be good. It didn't fail my expectations and though it wasn't as bad as the third one, it was awfully boring. Very good points on all the characters Maximus. Ian McShane, I would like to commend you for trying to redeem this movie but your part was not big enough and the storyline was stupid so you never really had a chance. After giving it a week to settle in I am going to have to give this movie 4 Ninja Stars out of 10.

Screenwriters A. Lee Alfred II and Ezequiel Martinez Jr. charged in their complaint that they had developed the original spec screenplay Pirates of the Caribbean in 2000 while working with Disney on another project but were told the company was passing on the Pirates project, according to the complaint in Arthur Lee Alfred II; et al. v. The Walt Disney Co.; et al.
The 2003 movie became the first in a series of Pirates of the Caribbean films.
A federal appeals court on Wednesday reinstated a copyright infringement lawsuit filed by two screenwriters and a producer against the Walt Disney Co. in connection with its film Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl.
In addition to this, it will introduce a suite of cosmetic items and emotes, so that you can cosplay as your favorite characters from the movies. There is even an opportunity to enlist the infamous prison dog into your crew as a pet. here
The crossover story campaign is divided into five "Tall Tales." For those who are new to Sea of Thieves, these are basically the closest thing that the game has to main missions, and they can only be picked up by visiting specific NPCs (Non-player characters) in predetermined locations.
Dividing its content into seasons is a relatively new concept for Rare's online swashbuckling sandbox. Until recently, Sea of Thieves was only periodically revised with new quests and cosmetic items, as opposed to receiving any seismic updates that fundamentally altered the nature of the game.
In the case of A Pirate's Life, you will need to find "The Castaway," a new quest giver who has been added to every single outpost in Sea of Thieves. This means that it should not be too hard to track her down, as she will be appearing on numerous islands throughout the game world.
The third season of Sea of Thieves is completely free, so you will not have to go through any menus or online storefronts to redeem it. Instead, you will simply have to launch the game (either on your own or as part of a larger crew) and embark on the new voyage.
