If you sit in the front row of the ride vehicle, you'll get splashed as you make the first, otherwise non-terrifying drop. You may get wet enough to cause a bad hair day, and you're likely to have a soggy bottom, too. If you don't want to put up with all that and end up in the line for the front row, ask the Cast Member in the loading area to move you further back.
It starts as a boat ride on the bayou, but before you know it, you're in the middle of a pirate raid, complete with cannons blasting and fires blazing. And Captain Jack Sparrow lurking everywhere at once. more

Having played a key role in establishing numerous successful trading posts in the new colonies of the Caribbean, Jewish privateers found common cause with the British. In 1655, Britain’s Royal Navy captured Jamaica from the Spanish and subsequently turned Port Royal into a naval base. Jewish buccaneers were among the fleet of officially sponsored pirates assembled by the British in Jamaica to take the fight to the Spanish. Leading some of the most successful raids against the Spanish, Jamaica’s Jewish pirates fought their way into the history books.
The Jewish population of Jamaica thrived under British rule and at one point comprised 20% of the residents of Kingston. Today, Jamaica’s Jewish population is estimated to have dwindled to just 200. Although Jamaica’s original synagogues were long ago destroyed by natural disaster, the Shaare Shalom Synagogue in Kingston provides an intriguing insight into the time of the pirates — the white sand that covers the floor is a reminder that the Iberian Jews had to hide the sound of their feet as they worshipped in secret during the inquisition.
Pirates of the Caribbean is a multi-billion dollar Walt Disney franchise encompassing a series of films, a theme park ride, and spinoff novels as well as numerous video games and other publications. The franchise originated with the Pirates of the Caribbean theme ride attraction, which opened at Disneyland in 1967, the last Disney theme park attraction overseen by Walt Disney. In an interview, Kevin McNally stated that a summer 2012 production start was possible. Because of the financial success of On Stranger Tides, the film’s director Rob Marshall might return for this addition to the series

The films started with their first release on the big screen in 2003 with Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl. After the success of the first film, Walt Disney Pictures revealed that a trilogy was in the works. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest was released three years later in 2006. The sequel proved successful, breaking records worldwide the day of its premiere. In the end, it earned $1,066,179,725 at the worldwide box office, becoming the fastest film (at the time) to reach the $1-billion-mark and standing as the third highest-grossing film worldwide (since having dropped to seventh place). The third film in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End, was released in 2007. In September 2008, Depp signed on for a fourth film in the franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, released on May 20, 2011 in conventional 2D, Digital 3-D and IMAX 3D. It succeeded in grossing more than $1 billion, becoming the eighth film and fastest Disney film (at the time) to achieve this. So far, the film franchise has grossed $3.72 billion worldwide, and is one of two franchises with two films that reached $1 billion worldwide (the other being the The Dark Knight trilogy). It is the fifth highest-grossing film series of all-time. It has been confirmed that two more installments to the franchise are included in Disney’s future plans. In July 2011, Johnny Depp confirmed he was closing in on a deal for a fifth installment and that the franchise wouldn’t be going ahead without Depp’s participation. here
Although it has never been officially confirmed, there is strong evidence to suggest that the series was influenced by, and perhaps loosely based upon, the Monkey Island series of video games. Ted Elliott, one of the two screenwriters of the first four Pirates of the Caribbean films, was allegedly the writer of a Steven Spielberg-produced animated film adaptation of Monkey Island entitled The Curse of Monkey Island (presumably based on the game of the same name), which was cancelled before its official announcement, three years prior to the release of The Curse of the Black Pearl. This film was allegedly in production at Industrial Light & Magic before being cancelled.
Blackbeard captured a French slaver named Concorde in the Caribbean in November 1717. He renamed it Queen Anne’s Revenge and used it as his flagship for the next seven months. In June 1718, Blackbeard deliberately ran the ship aground in Beaufort Inlet, North Carolina. He abandoned much of his crew and fled with a smaller group, probably so he could keep more of his loot. Pirates preferred their prey to surrender without a shot, so that no person or any valuable goods were damaged. But most were ready to fight to the death rather than be captured and hanged. Guns, swords, and other armaments were the tools of their trade.
Female buccaneers were rare, but Anne Bonny and Mary Read briefly led pirates’ lives in the Caribbean. Both sailed with Captain “Calico” Jack Rackam and fought beside their shipmates. [links]
