Depending on whether a yacht is new or used, the make/model and its size will all determine a yacht’s price range. For example, a newer 2020 72 Viking EB in our inventory is listed at $6,249,000. The same model, different year, comes in at $1,595,000 (1998-year model.) Depending on what you are looking for, yachts can range in price from the low hundreds of thousands to multi-millions. Check out our new yacht-buying guides to get examples of what different types of vessels cost.

So, if we are considering a small yacht, let’s start in the 50-70 foot range. A lot will depend if you are purchasing a new yacht or a pre-owned yacht, but you need to consider engines and optional equipment for either. However, if you are purchasing a used yacht, the year and overall conditions play a big factor as well. Let’s look at some examples:

The push for sponsorship in yachting is making vast inroads in sailboat racing worldwide. But competition in maxi yachts is unmarked by corporate footprints, and for a reason: Most owners of maxis don't want or need outside help.

The fleet that gathered in Newport for the start of racing yesterday includes five 79- to 81-foot maxis and four mini-maxis of 69-73 feet. The maxis belong to an elite group, the International Class A Yachting Association, which has about 15 members worldwide. Maxis can sail twice as fast as America's Cup 12-Meters, occasionally making speeds of 25 knots. They are longer by about 15 feet, and their crews number 26 or more, compared with the 11 on a 12-Meter. They are the most powerful monohulls in sailboat racing today and the most expensive. To build and outfit a full-sized maxi with sails costs almost $2 million. Defending Champion [links]

Nine of the world's maxi yachts -some of which are allowed into the fold as ''mini-maxis'' - are congregating this week in Newport, R.I., for the first half of a Maxi Yacht World Championship. In keeping with the grandiose nature of this costly pastime, the other half is scheduled Sept. 1-10 in Porto Cervo, Italy, the yacht-racing capital of the Mediterranean.

I know there are some receipts missing. I did a far job keeping track of most but I am sure I failed to get a few in the folder where I was filing them. I know many of the odds and ends from the local hardware store were missed. So probably rounding it off a $5000 would cover it all.
