The 1971 Venture 24 sailboat has a fiberglass hull and has an overall length of 24.58 feet (sometimes referred to as LOA). The width (or beam) of this craft is 711 inches. This boat is rigged as a Sloop. The sail area for the sailboat is 231 square feet. The displacement for the boat is approximately 2000 lbs. The draft of this sailboat is approximately 4’6″.

The Flattens have been busy making modifications inside and out to add cruising comforts and needed storage. They tore out the head compartment’s forward bulkhead to expand the V-berth to a full 6 feet by 8 feet. They built a cockpit lazarette for the fuel tank and other gear, and added a bowsprit (with a mermaid figurehead) that keeps the anchor and rode ready for use. here
also, if the lock bolt IS in place, you have collectively more surfaces to wear, so it will take even longer to wear a noticeable amount.
the most wide spread problem for the keels on these swing keel boats is caused when the boat is moored for a long period of time and the owner cranks the keel up as its moored.
this allows the keel to rock on its pivot bolt and the hole to wear in the direction of "escape", or towards the edge. AND, the keel WILL rock more and farther side to side when its cranked up than it will when its down, locked or not. the keel is designed to be stable when its down with the lock bolt in place with the tension removed from the cable. it IS NOT designed to be stable at at other position or configuration.
A bushing needs to be welded, and you need to find someone with experience welding cast iron.

with normal usage and overnighters, weekends and such, with the keel up will NEVER be a problem for many, many years with never a thing to worry or wonder about, but the long term moorage with a retracted keel will eventually become someones problem
It is a fair weather sailboat that will not be happy if it gets very windy in your area
Don't do it, everything that needs to be replaced will cost 10 times what it should and 5 times more than it would for a power boat. You're better off finding a slightly better example and enjoying it. here
Do a Google search on either Macgreggor or Venture. As to value you will find a few usually on the boat trader web site and of course ebay. I like the pop top idea and had use of one for a couple of years.
