As long as it is a 12v motorcycle starter relay you should be fine. The problem is whether or not it will fit your bike physically (that is whether the size of the solenoid will fit into the compartment designated in your motorcycle, and whether you have bullet, spade etc etc). [links]

Place the metal blade of an insulated screwdriver across both metal contacts. This bypasses the solenoid and creates a direct connection between the starter motor and the ignition switch.

Regular Starter Solenoids: Why They Aren’t Interchangeable. A starter solenoid is a critical part of your fleet vehicles’ systems, as without it, you wouldn’t be able to start your trucks. Here is a basic explanation of how a starter works, the different kinds of solenoids, and why they aren’t interchangeable. here

A typical starter solenoid is designed to send power to the starter of your engine when the ignition is turned to the start position. The solenoid closes the circuit and sends power through the starter to the engine. A continuous duty solenoid opens and closes a circuit to control the flow of power. here

The quickest way to test the solenoid valve is to apply a charge directly to it. There are two wires which cross directly above the valve as it lays in the timer that you will touch with a multimeter. This should send a charge onto the valve, and if it is functioning normally, it will open. here

Jump-starting a car with a bad starter motor will not help start the engine. Jump-starting will only boost battery power. A manual transmission car with a bad starter may be push or tow started but an auto transmission car can not. more

Sometimes you find a normal read on the digital multimeter but the coil is actually not functioning. At this time, you can use a screwdriver and put it near the armature then energize the solenoids. If there is a magnet in the presence, the coil is good. Otherwise, it is bad, and you need to change a new one. here

First, turn the ignition key to the “On” position. Look for the large terminal posts on the solenoid where the thick red wires connect to the solenoid. Touch the metal shaft of a screwdriver to both of the large terminals at the same time. If the engine turns over and starts, the solenoid is bad and should be replaced. here

Our Expert Agrees: If your starter solenoid is bad, you may hear a clicking sound when you turn the key, or your vehicle may not have any power at all. Check the battery. If your starter is failing to engage, it may be because the battery does not have sufficient energy to power it. more

It is important to have the right tools and take precautions before doing this. You will need rubber gloves, jumper cables, wire brush and a pair of pliers. Rubber gloves are by far the most important thing here. Rubber is an insulator meaning that electricity cannot pass through it. The gloves will save you from any kind of mishap that might happen since you are dealing with high voltage electric current here.
