Slide the thrust washer onto the shaft and over the splines on the shaft, until it makes firm contact with the propeller. Thread the propeller nut onto the shaft and tighten until it's seated against the face of the thrust washer. [links]
Clean the propeller shaft, removing shells, fishing line and other debris. Slather white marine grease on the propeller shaft and inside the propeller's hub. Slide the propeller onto the shaft, turning it as needed to align it with the propeller shaft splines.
When you change the propeller on one of Volvo's Penta marine engines, the job requires few tools and little in the way of supplies. Whether it's part of routine maintenance, in preparation for the motor's "long winter's nap" or because you're on the water and the propeller has suffered damage from a striking an object, swapping propellers is a straightforward process of taking things off and putting them back on in the same order.
See Volvo Penta's brochure on this easy option for Cobra to SX retrofit!
2) Add a seawater pump kit according to the following table:
(The Cobra Outdrive had a seawater pump built-in)
3) Choose an outdrive using the ratio you need according to the following table:
There are no core charges on this drive because it is a new purchase, however, we do pay $200 for old outdrives and we will pay for the shipping well (continental US only).
You are doing the right thing by asking your questions. a lot of people purchase without a clue and then they're not satisfied. they THEN search out this forum and discuss how bad it went, and they're given the data as to why it was a wrong move.
What you are saying is to stick with an aluminum one and also not to change hub kit?
The size si the same as what I currently have. Does the make of the prop matter so much? here
Do you think this one makes more sense? [links]

Re: Volvo Penta 270 Drive Engagement/Throttle cables question
I have attached a pic of the outdrive and engine to see if anyone can help. here
Re: Volvo Penta 270 Drive Engagement/Throttle cables question [links]
Okay, so some/most may consider this a ridiculous question, but I am new to boating, and this forum, and have a problem with my drive engaging. IT WONT. It throttles up in neutral. 1982 Bayliner Capri. When I try throttling it while not pulling out for neutral, it bogs, and then if I push the throttle far enough to hit the actual throttle cable, it revs. probably too much, but regardless. it doesn't even make a noise to engage. I looked at the throttle lever assembly, and it appears that there should be another cable that is not there. I'm not sure, so that's why I'm asking, but are there supposed to be 2 or 3 cables for the throttle lever? My guess is that there needs to be one to engage the outdrive separate from the 2 throttle cables, one for fwd, one for reverse. Either way, fwd, or reverse, the drive does not engage.
There are 2 cables, one for the throttle, one for shifting.
It may be that your control is stuck in the throttle only position.
I would suggest you go to the link below, and download a free owners manual for your engine model. It will explain how to use the shifter if it's the OEM shifter. You could even post a picture of it. here
Can someone enlighten me. then if my suspicions are right, where the heck does the drive cable attach to? Is there any diagrams that someone can help me out with? [links]
