Thanks again Bear! I'm on the edge of pulling the trigger on a TM and gathering information! I've found out that I can go to a 24 volt and have 1 battery and the charger in the front storage locker and 1 battery in the console! Just have to run the cables to the 1 in the console! That will help with weight distribution! I fish Salt Water so was worried about the wave and chop for shaft length! Were you able to get to the TM base mounting bolts from the underside of the deck? Did you have to cut a hole in the anchor locker to do this if needed? If needed, I'd cut a hole and cover it with a pie plate! Just trying to get my ducks in a row! Any help is appreciated Bear! Also what model Minkota, did you get that has the built-in fish finder/sounder and foot control have! That is exactly what I want! Thinking about it, I don't even have to run a wire to the CC, as the boat came rigged with the TM power cable ending in the CC

According to Minn Kota's website, the only models that offer the built in transducer (Minn Kota calls it "Universal Sonar 2") are the Fortrex, Terrova and PowerDrive V2. Unfortunately, those are all freshwater troll motors.
I recently installed a Minn Kota SM55 on my 1720. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, so I can't comment on how well the 12V 55lb thrust motor controls the boat. I went with the quick release RTA mount. I attempted to install it by going through the sharkeye bowlight hole, but my adult size hands just weren't going to fit. I cut a 4" hole in the anchor locker, and even with the additional access that gave me, it was still a PITA getting nuts and washers on the thru-bolts. You might want to ask Maddie for some help in the sharkeye hole so you can avoid cutting through the anchor locker. Another thing I should mention - If you do decide to go with the RTA bracket, I found that I needed shims under the puck in order for the slide bar to move in and out smoothly.

I removed the screws and the connector won’t came off. It comes about 1” and that is it,
something is holding it or the wires are just to short, I did everything I could, looked to every access and can see and nothing.
I even remove the navigation light and I can’t see those wires.
I gave up after about 2 hours.
Any ideas? here

Questions:
1. What model year 1720?
2. Is this a 12v TM and was the TM battery originally in the starboard aft compartment? [links]
