You'll need to know your outboard's model number and it's a good idea to double-check that your outboard was manufactured in 2008 and isn't from a different year. You can do both at the same time, so it isn't difficult. All Suzuki outboards have a stamped plate on the transom clamp bracket that lists the model number, a prefix number and the serial number. So that's the model number taken care of, but what about he year? The last digits of the serial number represent the year. Make a note of them and then use the Outboard Model Identification chart on this page to determine the year. (K8 = 2008, K7 = 2007, etc.) [links]

If you're a marine enthusiast who also happens to be the proud owner of a Suzuki® outboard motor, you know just how reliable and powerful these engines can be. However, you’ll need to do your part and ensure that you take excellent care of your outboard. As you’re probably aware, one of the most important maintenance tasks is changing the oil.

Luckily, Suzuki is one step ahead of the game and provides you with an oil change reminder alarm so you never forget to take care of it. If your Suzuki oil alarm goes off at an inopportune moment, like when you’re out on the water with family and friends, you’ll probably want to reset it. Diamond Motors & Marine has provided some tips on how to reset your Suzuki oil alarm:

The absence of a proper, four digit tachometer seems a bit of an oversight, but apart from that, it is hard to see how the tiller handle could be improved.

VERDICT
- A well designed and user-friendly tiller handle
Suzuki’s new tiller arm is well designed, feature packed, and user-friendly. The troll mode system is excellent, and the gear-shift and trim button perfectly placed.

Suzuki’s current 50/60hp models come pre-rigged with the previous model tiller so you may have to pay extra to upgrade to the new, multi-function tiller handle. Pricing (if there is an extra charge) for this change-over is not yet available -- so you will need to consult your local Suzuki dealer. here

The new tiller handle can not be retro-fitted to older Suzuki four-strokes because only the 2012 models have the troll mode system. here

In addition to the acclaimed 15/20hp EFI portable four-stroke outboards (see here), Suzuki debuted a new, multi-function tiller handle for new (2012 only) Suzuki models between 40 and 115hp.

I've run some Lucas fuel injector cleaner through it and some Sea Foam, but the problem persists. There are no engine warning beeps indicating an internal problem, and the motor probably has about 100-150 hours on it. It's basically been a garage queen for the past 10 years, but I've had her out quite a bit here lately. The miss is not keeping me from running her, it's just aggravating.

My 2002 DF40 has a miss at idle at low speed that I can't seem to figure out. I'm running an inline fuel filter (changed regularly) and premium gas with ethanol treatment. It cranks fine, and when I give it gas in neutral it revs up OK, but for some reason when I put it in gear and start to head out, it will miss (sputter) every 5-10 seconds. When I open her up, she runs like a scalded dog, so WOT is fine - no misses at all. It is a tiller model and I do not have a tachometer on it right now.

Any ideas on where else to check? I've heard there may be a couple inline filters I need to check/replace and possibly a clogged VST tank? I wouldn't think it would be a clogged injector given how well she runs at WOT, but you folks may think otherwise. here
