Until it arrives just try the electrical tape thing. Just use go 3 or 4 times around and take it off when the plug comes.

Take the transducer off the transom mount and epoxy it in the bilge area of your boats. It's solid fiberglass and all you need to do is find teh center of the hull, clean it well and apply a blob of two-part epoxy there. Press the transducer into the epoxy making sure you have no bubbles underneath, let it set and then hook everything back up. You'll be amazed- the finder will work just fine, the sensitivity will be fine and no more rooster tail. no more worrying about hitting tree branches or the bunks on the trailer, no fabricated fixes to a mount that has had issues forever and no more water spraying up into your boat.
Re: Transducer Rooster Tail
I mounted both of my transducer with no new holes in the transon.
I glued on with silicon seal and put one on each side of the pitot tube.
I then made a bracket to attach to the screws to the pitot tube to help hold the transducer on. I have one small transducer and one large 8 degree transducer and this has worked since 1981 with no problem.
If you do this it is very important to put a tie wrap around the cable to the transducer as close to the transducer as possible. The reason for this is if the transducer should come loose the water will push it back at high speed and it will swing on the cable back then up and around into the back of the boat at high speed and could hit someone. It also needs to be far enough away from the engine foot so it (again) doesn't change the water flow.

I used to run the HUGE TM260 transducer. That sucker was a bitch, but I did get it to work perfect eventually. here
Mine was doing the same thing - this plate from Garmin solved the issue. more
Each boat and transducer is unique and you will likely need to adjust things in small steps to get it dialed in perfectly.
Garmin makes a plate that mounts on the ducer's bracket just for that. I have it on mine.
If you do this, make sure it is at least an inch from bottom of boat. here
