I did pull the spark plugs after I shut it down, and squirted some of the stuff in each cylinder and then turned the motor over a few times by hand. I guess that should do the trick?

My air box is a pain to remove, so I just sprayed right into the six intakes on the port side of the air box with the engine at idle. Stuff gets sucked right in, I didn't see it going anywhere else. 1987 Merc 3-cyl 90hp. here
I'm winterizing my 90HP Mercury 4-stroke. Instructions say to spray fogging oil in the carb intakes; problem is that there's an airbox ahead of the carbs, and half of what I spray into it ends up lying on the bottom. Is there a way to get the fogging oil where it's supposed to go?
BTW, hope I don't get shot for posting in two forums. more

Is your boat being stored outside over the winter? One thing is to make sure the motor is tilted all the way in so any water will drain out and if stored outside keep it that way so water won't collect and freeze in the exhaust.
That method doesn't help much, all you're doing is putting oil on the bottom side of the cylinder, maybe 1/4 of it. And if its a two stroke it needs the extra oil in the crankcase, this method totally bypasses it.
They do not suggest using fogging oil on a four stroke fuel injected engine. [links]
Fogging oil is only effective when like said above sprayed into the motor while running. You're motor will be fine, I would only use fogging oil on it if it were to be stored long term. more

In practise, I think there are only minor variations between model year manuals, because the engines basically don't change that much. So, for the home user, not delving in too deeply, the basic advice changes very little.
