Remove the motor from the water if mounted on a boat.

Ole Evinrude founded the Evinrude company which built its first motor in 1909. Within four years the company built over 9,000 boat motors. For the next 91 years, Evinrude produced motors until filing for bankruptcy on December 21, 2000. In 2001, it was acquired by Johnson, one of its competitors, and later that same year, both companies were bought out by Bombardier Inc., which currently produces the Evinrude motor. All Evinrude boat motors are assigned a serial number by which the manufacturing date of the motor can be determined.

Look at the first two of these letters, disregarding the last letter. Here is the code for the first two letters to determine the date of manufacture: I=1, N=2, T=3, R=4, O=5, D=6, U=7, C=8, E=9, S=0. For example, using this code, a model number ending in "CC A" would reveal that the motor was built in 1988, with the "A" being the model run or suffix designation. [links]

Re: What the Heck is This ?? ( Shrader Valve on Choke!)

I have to crank the cold engine forever before it starts, Once started it will fire up instantly all day long. But on a Cold Start it will crank forever before it fires.
So While trying to troubleshoot the electric choke (Enricher) I ran accros this valve. It is a Shrader valve and has a two position red lever !!

Of course you have a pull starter. It is called a rope with a wooden handle. You wind it around the flywheel. I had to use mine a few weeks ago when I got caught with a dead battery. And I didn't even have the original rope, but used a piece of docking line. Started on first pull (warm).

When it eventually fires, It will run only for a second, Try again several times until it Runs. Like it is getting No Fuel at first. However after this cold start it will start instantly all day long without even re-pumping the Bulb.

Think I'll remove the lines from the enricher and clean everything real good and see if it helps.

OTHER - Top off the cells in your battery, wait 3-days, then give it a charge before putting away.

TREAT the fuel - Add stabilizer, shake tank well and run OB enough to make sure treated fuel got into the OB, at least 15-minutes.

FOG - Start engine, when warm, disconnect fuel line . wait 2-3 minutes and spray fogging oil through the intake and continue spraying fogging oil into the engine until the OB dies. I'll run them about 1,200 RPMs, as fogging oil will bog down the motor, but you want to keep it running until she runs out of 'treated' fuel.

LUBE - I take a few minutes to clean off the OB under the cowling/hood and I spray down any moving parts with a good lubricant.
STORE - Leave the OB vertical. If in freezing climates, do not leave the OB tilted up, I've seen water collect in the thru-hub exhaust system and crack lower unit housings.
