Make sure that the battery terminals and posts are free of corrosion to ensure that adequate power is supplied to the power tilt and trim.
A power tilt and trim is a great feature to have when running a boat. It allows you to raise or lower the motor from the steering column. It also trims the boat while running so that the boat moves more efficiently, saving fuel and making for a smoother ride. A toggle switch can be used to control the pistons that raise and lower the motor. Wiring a toggle switch to the power tilt and trim is a fairly straightforward job. [links]
Connect the up wire coming from the power tilt and trim to the bottom post of the toggle switch by pushing the female end of the wire onto the male end of the toggle switch. The up wire of the power tilt and trim raises the motor. [links]
Locate a place on the dashboard to install the toggle switch. Use a cordless drill and a 1/2-inch bit to drill a 1/2-inch hole at the desired location. here
Loosen and disconnect the positive and negative cables from the battery, using the adjustable wrench.
Locate the keyway on the toggle switch and make sure it is pointed up.
Green = grass (down)<br />Blue = sky (up)<br />Purple = keyed +12V<br /><br />The blue/white and green/white wires are the control wires into the relays, and purple can be attached to a non-keyed +12v source if you want that switch to work with the ign key off.
Re: Install Extra tilt/trim switch here
reelgun<br />youre two greens should go together and they should be youre ground or common wich ever.. either way those two togather then if youre other 4 wires are backwards the worst that will happen is it will go up when you press down and down when you want up..So in that case just change the 4 wires.. here

Re: Install Extra tilt/trim switch here
Ok switch has Green purple and blue wires.<br />I see that the relays have green red black and green/white blue/white basically do I need to splice into the blue/white/ gree/white? and the purple needs 12V+ is that correct?
Good point, Crabby. But it might make sense under some circumstances. For example, the original motor on my boat didn't have power T&T so there is no switch on the throttle handle. I switched motors to one with power T&T so a steering wheel switch would be easier/cheaper than replacing the controls. My T&T switch is on the instrument panel. [links]
Re: Trim Switch on Steering Wheel
My question is WHY? On good water it is easy to control from the throttle lever and in bad water one hand will be there to adjust power/speed anyway. If pushing to WOT/high speed on flat water in a straight line would be the only reason.
Re: Trim Switch on Steering Wheel
Well, I have a hot foot on it already and would like to get to where I can keep both hands on wheel at all times, except to engage motor. My boat likes to walk and when it does, I do not like taking a hand off the wheel to trim down. Anything can happen when a bass boat starts chine-walking. So just for added control and comfort.

Good news guys! Did you know that Tilt and Trim Unit is one among the products that we offer discount? Imagine, enjoying your boat with tilt and trim unit in a very affordable price! You might be asking why tilt and trim unit is important. Well, the reason is because Tilt and Trim units are electro-hydraulic mechanisms driven by a motor-driven gear pump as source of providing hydraulic pressure. The angle of the outboard machine is actively changed by trim function, and an efficient running is secured. Tilt function is useful for the protection of the outboard engine. Moreover, the hull and the outboard engine are prevented being damaged by Shock absorbing function. This is the reason why every boat is recommended to have tilt and trim unit.
